AbstractThe layer structure of an experimental 1400°C carbon fibre is revealed by high‐resolution electron microscopy and by electron diffraction of fibre fragments obtained by mechanical disintegration. Besides the typically wrinkled turbostratic texture, large crystalline aggregates were found exhibiting almost straight lattice lines and high lattices order. It is suggested that these crystals are induced by the catalytic action of impurity particles, particularly containing transition metals and silicon, included into the fibre mainly during precursor manufacture. The conclusion may be drawn that further improving the tensile strength of the carbon fibre requires to rigorously exclude any impurities from the manufacturing proce

AbstractDas Phasenverhalten von verschiedenen Mischungen aus Poly(vinylchlorid) und Poly(methylmethacrylat‐co‐butylacrylat) wurde untersucht. AbstractPoly(bis‐methylthio‐acetylen) und Poly(bis‐ethylthio‐acetylen) wurden hinsichtlich der Struktur der Hauptkette und der Beweglichkeit der Seitenketten mittels13C‐NMR‐Spektroskopie untersucht. Die Hauptkette bestecht aus sp2‐hydridisierten C‐Atomen. Die 1,2‐Bisalkythioethylen‐Einheiten bilden ein nicht‐Planares Polymerrückgrat, für das keine distreten Konfigurationen nachzuweisen sind. AbstractThermally stimulated discharge current measurements were made with cellulose acetate films at different polarizing fields and temperatures. While two peaks were obtained, in general, for specimens polarized at low fields and temperatures, only one peak was observed for higher fields and temperatures. The activation energies were evaluated. The origin of the TSDC is attributed to the homotype space charge polarization and trapping of electrons injected from the electrodes with some contribution from dipolar orientation.
