摘要:
High Frequency Ventilation (HFV) use is increasing for critical care patients. HFV uses small tidal volumes delivered at frequencies ranging from 60 to 2400 cycles per minute, and produces lower airway pressure than conventional mechanical ventilation. The author presents a clinical application of HFV using nursing diagnoses and highlighting nursing techniques for providing this respiratory treatment.

摘要:
Since equipment used in critical care is an extension, not a replacement, for nursing care, the nurse needs to carefully evaluate new products to determine not only their function, but how they assist or hinder nursing care. This first article describes the product evaluation process, while the next article uses these research evaluation methods to determine the usefulness of one specific product.
