摘要:
PhrygionisandPityejabelong to the Palyadini, a tribe of neotropical Ennominae. The moths of both genera bear striking wing markings and mere variants were frequently described as species with the consequence that species diversity was overestimated. Numerous taxonomic changes are made in this work based on the study of primary types and much other material. Variation and distribution is recorded for each species and subspecies. Phylogenetic relationships withinPhrygionisare examined, and comments are made on the evolution of wing pattern within this genus.Fifteen full species are recognized in this study (13 inPhrygionisand two inPityeja), of which four (all inPhrygionis) are described as new; 19 species‐group (specific and subspecific) names refer to valid taxa. Twenty‐four species‐group names are synonymized (19 inPhrygionisand five inPityeja) and five are recombined with different genera (four withPhrygionisand one withPityeja). Three generic names are synonymized (one inPhrygionisand two inPit

摘要:
TheHydrophissubgenusChituliawas analysed using the computer program Hennig86 (version 1.5). The character data set comprises 22 two‐state characters, giving a minimum of 22 steps. Four trees with a length of 37 steps and a consistency index of 0.59 were found using the “ie*” option. The results indicate that the subgenusChituliais paraphyletic, and that the group has been based solely on plesiomorphic character states. The order of taxa input, the display of the root, and the effect of unknown character states using Hennig86 are comment

摘要:
Morphological and genetic differentiation between populations of freshwater amphipods initially identified asParamelita spinicornisare examined. Morphological data are analysed by means of cluster and discriminant functions analyses and genetic differentiation determined using starch gel electrophoresis. The 11 populations form two distinct groups, one of which corresponded to the described species,P. spinicornis, while the other is clearly recognizable as a new species, which is described here.
