摘要:
Current popular interest in stress and its effects on physical and psychological functioning has implications for counselors and clients. Although many counselors have not been trained in the physiological and medical aspects of stress, they do have skills that can be appropriately applied to the alleviation and modification of environmental and internal sources of stress. This article describes a model to aid counselors in understanding stress and in designing and implementing counseling interventions to mediate its effects.

摘要:
Despite the recent development of sexual enhancement programs, young, premarital aged adults (18 to 20) have usually been excluded from participation. Few models exist that attempt to meet the needs of this age group. In an effort to bridge this gap, a sexual enhancement workshop has been developed that focuses specifically on the needs of young adults.

摘要:
The increasing number of clients seeking to maintain a dual career life‐style has increased the need for counselors to educate themselves to the unqiue set of concerns, needs, and characteristics particular to dual career partners and their families. This article presents an overview of the published literature delineating the variables associated with this life‐style, including the numerous benefits or incentives, the common conflicts and stressors, and the personality dynamics shared by these men and women. In addition, the article will describe dysfunctional coping strategies as well as adaptive strategies employed by individuals attempting to manage the coupling of both career and fam

摘要:
Dual career marriages are a new phenomenon in the alternative family life‐style scene in America. Working couples in general do not fit into the definition applied to this life‐style. This is caused by the deep commitment that each partner feels for his or her work relationship. However, the 1980s will see significant increases in this group. There are joys and sorrows associated with dual career marriages. This article will examine the uniqueness of family and work relationships and will attempt to describe various ingredients that appear to lead to success in the two career partners

摘要:
Professional and social movements of the 1980s demand that counselors have a basic knowledge of biological foundations of behavior, a knowledge that has been neglected in counselor training programs, theories of counseling, and theories of personality. This article discusses biological explanations of human behavior and problems, along with implications and applications for the counselor in terms of the counseling setting, client problem, counselor role, counselor training, and the counseling profession.

摘要:
Social problem‐solving programs for withdrawn and hyperactive children within a school context were developed and implemented in a day care center, a Montessori nursery school, a Catholic elementary school, and a Catholic high school. This article describes the program implementation for each of the four schools and some of the effects on the consultative relationshi

摘要:
This article presents a model for training counselors to confront empathetically and presents a confrontation training scale that includes the inadequate responses of acquiescing and scolding and the progressively more effective responses of recognizing ineffective behavior, realizing its negative consequences, and committing to change. The authors contend that counselors who confront tend to become more empathic but also more able to help others and themselves face their problems responsibly.

摘要:
Corporate planners acknowledge that productivity is directly related to employee mental health. This recognition is reflected by the recent upsurge of corporate in‐house, human resource programs. Although their latent function may be economic rather than humanitarian, these programs nevertheless provide psychological assistance for problems considered to be normal episodes of human development. Counseling psychologists may be the best equipped to work with a corporate clientele because, unlike the clinician, the counselor is trained to work with healthy, instead of disturbed, personalities. Most of the developmental crises encountered by the corporate psychologist are associated with stress, midlife, or career developmen
