摘要:
The goal of authentic behavior is postulated as an important factor in greater understanding of man as well as in more effective utilization of his potential, particularly in interpersonal relationships. The purposes and criteria for authentic behavior are described. The philosophical and psychological origins of authentic behavior are examined with particular reference to existentialism and humanistic psychology. Suggestions are offered for individual attainment of more authentic behavior. The core concern is the need for seeking greater implicit awareness of experiencing by deriving more felt meaning from experiences that involve both feeling and events or concepts. Such an expanded awareness can lead to the discarding of perceptual distortions and a greater accord between man's nature and the being of the world itself. Emphasis is placed on the serious responsibility for decisions resulting from authentic conduct. Implications of authentic behavior for personal living, for professional functions and for social action are outlined.

A national sample of about 5,000 public, 2,600 parochial, and 1,200 private secondary school students were asked whether they thought it fair to use intelligence tests to help make decisions in educational, occupational, and other areas. Results indicated that: (1) anti‐test sentiment is neither ubiquitous nor consistent. A considerable number of respondents were in favor of testing, the proportion of respondents favoring tests varied greatly as a function of test context, and some favored tests in one context but disapproved of them in another. (2) Social background and individual difference variables interacted with test contexts. This study assessed the accuracy of predictions of freshman and overall college scholastic performance made by groups of high school counselors, college advisors, and counseling psychologists from a university counseling center in relation to the confidence of these judges that their prognoses were accurate. Predictions were made from three sets of case information. The results revealed that: (1) the degree of confidence counselors indicated in their freshman and overall college “pass” predictions was appropriately related to accuracy; (2) counselor confidence in freshman “fail” predictions wasnotrelated to accuracy although the “fail” judgments tended to be more accurate than the “pass” prognoses; (3) counselor confidence in their overall “fail” predictions wasnotsignificantly related to accuracy and, unlike the results for the freshman judgments, the overall “fail” predictions werenotmore accurate than the “pass” predictions; (4) the amount of case data available was not related to co

Using samples from Iowa OASI sub‐populations, the relationships between NMZ scores and the criteria of acceptance for services by the Iowa DVR as well as future rehabilitation of clients were examined. The results suggest that (a) the relationship of NMZ scores to the acceptance criterion is low; (b) the relationship of NMZ scores to the more ultimate criterion of client rehabilitation is moderate, and, here, empirical weights appear to work better than the intuitive weights assigned in the original development of NMZ scores; (c) through empirical weighting, the variable of age was revealed as most important in predicting such criteri

3 scales measuring different aspects of attitudes toward disabled persons were translated into Turkish and administered to 212 college students at Gazi Institute, Ankara. These data were compared with findings from a sample of 269 New York college students previously reported by Siller and Chipman. Results confirmed the prediction of greater nonacceptance of disabled persons in the Turkish sample. Means from the Attitude Toward Disabled Persons scale and the Social Distance Scale differentiated the samples beyond the .001 level. However, the Feeling Check List data showed a reversal, with the Turkish sample rating significantly more positive feelings toward 6 of 7 disability categories. A motion picture test of counselor perceptions of counseling interview segments was developed in order to analyze change in trainee perceptions during a practicum, and to explore the relationship between counselor perceptions of others and counseling competence. This study investigates clarity of communication among high school counselors and university admissions officers in their use of selected terminology to describe three types of scholars: potentially low‐, average‐, and exceptional‐achieving scholars. A “Descriptive Word Scale” was designed to investigate the degree to which semantic variance was present in the selected terminology used to describe these three types of scholars among counselors, among admissions officers, and between the two groups. A sample of 300 counselors and admissions officers was drawn. Basic theoretical assumptions were drawn from the theories of Miller, Hackett,et al., and Schramm.
