Counselors can no longer dodge the special demands of vocational decision‐making with women by saying either “Sooner or later she will settle down and get married” or “A woman can do anything a man can do.” Counselors and educators can help to clarify the factors involved in the vocational choice process with high school and college girls, particularly where these factors differ from those affecting men. There is no need to wait for a woman to seek counseling in order to expose her to these factors; such clarification should be built into high school and college guidance programs for girls. The new Washington state certification plan for school counselors includes promising innovations. The plan calls for behaviorally stated performance standards related to client outcomes. Resulting programs for in‐service as well as pre‐service counselors are developed in a partnership among professional associations, school districts, and university counselor education personnel. The group was given the opportunity as a whole—as well as in segregated sections of boys and girls—to discuss various aspects of human sexuality. Pupil personnel services and student personnel services are compared on organizational patterns, professionalization problems, and relationship to counseling. Both entities have unique problems but are not without commonalities. Student personnel workers fare better in organizational patterning and counseling, while pupil personnel workers have fewer professionalization problems. Future prospects for both services have inherent promise.

摘要:
Interview data were collected from a random sample of 55 Macalester College freshmen in the fall of 1968 and the spring of 1969 in an attempt to explore the students' relationships with their parents. In general, students described their parents favorably and with enthusiasm. About half the students reported that they usually discussed important matters with their parents. The major areas of conflict between students and their parents were religion, politics, and sex. Most students felt that they were different from their parents in beliefs, values, goals, or life styles. They frequently claimed to be more liberal and less materialistic and to have a more casual way of living.

An experimental college tried to solve its academic advising problems by employing undergraduate students to advise freshmen. The evaluation of faculty, freshmen students, and the undergraduate students themselves was generally positive, although some problems arose.
