摘要:
Information Technology and especially Computer Aided Design, play an important role in both Industry and Education. Industry needs well trained engineers and the University has to provide that training. In fact the University has to train the engineer for the future, the engineer that Industry needs tomorrow. Therefore, it is important to know the profile of that engineer and to adjust the training to that required profile. A brief view is given to show how the Department of Design Engineering of the University in Delft, is tackling this problem. There is also a description of the experiments that have been started at this department to implement Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Instruction in the courses.

摘要:
The provision of education and training almost always lags behind the needs of industry. This is particularly so in the case of rapidly developing high technology fields such as CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design and Manufacture), where the educational sector finds it difficult to keep up with industry's requirements not only because of the rapid growth rate, but also because of the high level of funding which is required to purchase and maintain suitable facilities. Two education/training initiatives are described in this paper. The first of these is a pack of resource material for lecturers teaching CAD/CAM to undergraduate level, and the second is a training course for the managers of CAD/CAM systems which is part of the U.K. Manpower Services Commission's Open Tech programme.

摘要:
The Katholieke Universiteit Leuven uses two different CAD/CAM systems. We first give an explanation why the introduction of CAD/CAM was necessary, looking at the task of our university in engineering education, looking at the basic requirement in teaching design, and looking also at the already existing programs in computer sciences. Next we give the basic principles followed by the investigation and the final choice of the system. Finally the initial results are given with a description of the various pitfalls to look out for.

摘要:
In the context of CAI, the authors present examples of didactic software or‘teachware» developed in a school of engineering, accompanied by a discussion of pedagogical and systems considerations. The 'pedagogical environment' is described as the interface (Apple-Macintosh) used in the teachware in particular in relation to Bloom's six levels of learning. The ‘system approach’emphasises each step and the proper sequence that are necessary to arrive at empirically validated and relevant software. The importance of the new information technologies for both the pedagogue and ‘the media conceptualiser’ are underlined.

摘要:
Before describing the use of CAE, it would be proper to analyse the specificities of the two audiences for whom classical teaching and training courses are intended. This analysis of the audiences leads to two separate concepts: the first one, that of classical teaching consists in using the computer as assistance to the teacher. Six examples of it will be given; the other one that of training courses comes under the notion of programs. The relevance of such programs is based on characteristics proper to CAE which will be analysed and illustrated.

摘要:
Some real life systems are so complex that they cannot be studied analytically, and simulation provides the only practical approach despite its limitations. Simulation is generally a slow and costly way to analyse a system. It is also an inprecise technique since it provides statistical estimates of system variables rather than their optimal values. Even when analytic solutions can be found, simulation may be needed, in some cases, for their verification. Furthermore, practical conclusions can be drawn regarding proposed systems or policies by experimenting with simulation models which represent them, without the need for their implementation. This can be a cheaper and safer way to analyse proposed systems and policies. Finally, simulation can be used to generate synthetic data when no other source of data is available.

The IMWS (Integrated Model of Water Strategy: MISE) is both a pedagogical tool and a useful tool for decision making. It is designed for the integrated management of water-resources ( resources modelling and economics decision making). IMWS is an interactive model. The objective is to train decision–makers or young engineers in the management of water resources through both technical and economic aspects. The participant's objectives are to respond to a tender concerning the following project.
