摘要:
A number of new initiatives have been taken recently in the UK to not only bring the universities and industry closer together but to allow genuine collaboration. These range from industry-based research programmes to university groups entering the industrial world for themselves

摘要:
In the United Kingdom engineering education as it was set-up was more divorced from industry it served than in, for example, Germany and France. During the last three decades some efforts have been made to achieve a partnership between industry and the institutions of higher education in the education and training of engineers. Up till a few decades ago much of engineering research in the universities was in the field of engineering science, but now more engineering research is being carried-out in co-operation with industry and it is realised that the advantages greatly outweigh the problems it poses. University engineering departments have also realised that they have a contribution to make in providing advisory services for industry and short post-experience courses for engineers in industry.

摘要:
There is a universal need for the strengthening of the bonds between the university and industrial sectors of our society. The recent upheaval in the world economy has thrown a greater responsibility on to the university sector to contribute more to the research and product development needs of industry. The evolution of industry in Ireland is a particular case and at present, there is a vital need for more R&D activity which can be greatly assisted by the universities. It is important that the restrictions within the universities for cooperation with industry are removed, in particular those relating to the participation by academic staff. The healthy future of our industry requires greater interaction between industry and university at all levels.

摘要:
This paper describes and discusses three aspects of cooperation between industry and engineering schools in Denmark: The practical training of undergraduates, cooperation in research and development and industry's possible help to the university with the renewal of its equipment. The last few years have brought important changes in these fields. The new Project Office of the Technical University may prove to be particularly important.

摘要:
In the structures of European society, the institutions of education, state, industry and others have always been quite autonomous and largely separate from each other. This contrasts with the USA and Japan, where the linkages between the university and industry sectors have always been very strong and cooperation between the two has been long established. This paper addresses itself to the situation in Ireland and reviews the many institutional structures for university industry cooperation. The specific developments in University College Dublin are described and the benefits which such cooperation bring to both the university and industrial sectors are summarised.

摘要:
In this short paper we try to put evidence together to prove that Italian engineering schools must satisfy much more rapidly in the near future than in the past the growing demands of the production world and that they will be able to do so only with strong support from industries. The main concern is with the Italian situation, but several observations may well be valid at a European level.

摘要:
From a historical view-point, university and industry have had a long experience of cooperation, with differing results according to the countries, the fields of knowledge or activity, and the particular period. During the last 10-15 years, new trends have appeared within society and one can observe changing roles, in education or in research. In the near future, new concepts and new schemes will be developed for better cooperation between higher education and industry: ‘co-formation’, responsibility-shared education, design of new programmes with a large part for sandwich courses, production of pedagogical resources, joint ventures for special educational programmes and systems ⃛ As far as the partnership is concerned, more than in the past, university and industry have to explore new ways. It is a necessity for both.

摘要:
Engineering education must be based on technical and scientific development. It is therefore important that engineering education involves close contact between universities and industry. It is equally important that the links between engineering education and research carried out in the universities and in industry are also close. In Sweden this is accomplished by a framework of representation from industry, society and professional organisations in the various levels of planning and management of engineering education as well as by a direct cooperation in actual course work
