A variety of alveolar diseases can be caused by several drugs. The most important diseases, and the drugs that cause them, are—non-cardloçenlc pulmonary oedema: naloxone, intravenous beta2-agonisls, hydrochlorothiazide, desfernoxamine, and more rarely other agents including cytosine arabinoside, carbamazepine, cyclosporin, and haloperidol;Interstitial pneumonltis and lung fibrosis: gold, amiodarone, methotrexate, nitrofurantoin, busulphan, bleomycin, cyclophosphamide, nitrosoureas, sulphasalazine, and, rarely, beta-adrenoceptor blockers:pulmonary eosinophilic: sulphonamides, penicillin, tetracyclines, non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs, and aminosalicyiates;organizing pneumonia: gold, amiodarone, penicillamine, bleomycin, and sulphasalazine; drug-induced lupus disease: hydralazine, procainamide, sulphasalazine, alphamethyldopa, isoniazid, and phenytoin.pulmonary haemorrhage: poorly controlled anticoagulant therapy and penicillamine therapy.
