摘要:
Antiarrhythmic drugs may sometimes aggravate an existing arrhythmia or cause a new one, an effect known as arrhythmogenesis.Arrhythmias resulting from arrhythmogenesis are of two types (1) ‘Clinical’—when they produce symptoms; and (2) ‘Technical’—when they are asymptomatic and detectable only by electrocardiography.Patients particularly at risk of arrhythmogenesis are those with a life-threatening ventricular tachyarrhythmia, and those with hypokalaemia or, possibly, other electrolyte disturbance.More accurate diagnosis of arrhythmias and more careful selection of an antiarrhythmic drug are the best ways of avoiding arrhythmogenesis.
