摘要:
The major obstacle to successful organ transplantation is the immunological phenomenon of rejection. Two recent developments in transplantation biology, namely, the role of humoral antibody in graft rejection and tissue matching, are discussed in the light of the author's own experience in renal transplantation.

摘要:
Experience with renal homotransplantation during the last six years has made it apparent that the path from the terminal stages of chronic renal failure to renal transplantation is not always smooth and can expose the patient to a series of events which have a definite morbidity and mortality. This communication describes the various problems encountered in the period leading up to transplantation. In addition. the factors thought to be significant in their development and management will Be discussed.

摘要:
Though immunological rejection is the chief obstacle to the prolonged survival of renal homografts, a significant number of graft failures can be attributed to complications of surgical technique. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the influence of vascular anomalies in the donor kidney upon graft function. Factors considered include the duration of “warm” and “cold” ischæmia, the technical improvisation of the vascular anastomoses, and the utilization of both kidneys from any cadaver. During the past three and a half years, 43 renal homografts have been transplanted into 40 patients at the Prince Henry Hospital, Sydney. Although there has been a high incidence of vascular anomaly in this series, no donor kidney has been discarded for this reason, and satisfactory graft function has been obtained in 31 of the transplanted

摘要:
Two methods of ureteric drainage have been used iir a transplantation programme, and the results of 35 uretero‐ureteric and 20 ureterovesical anastomoses studied. Comparison is made between these groups, and the literature is reviewed. Ureteroureteric anastomosis has been found to be a satisfactory method of ureteric drainag

摘要:
A low incidence of non‐function in a series of 67 cadaveric renal transplants is reported. Methods of preservation of function in kidneys from cadaver donors are discussed. Of particular importance are the avoidance of prolonged ischemia, and the avoidance of transplantation in the presence of antibodies toxic to the donor's leucocyte

摘要:
This paper examines early graft function in paired or “double‐header” cadaveric renal allografts performed in Melbourne over the past three years. These are cases where the same donor provided grafts for each of two separate recipients. The fate of the kidneys from the same donor in recipient pairs of patients is com

摘要:
While it has been known for many years that avascular necrosis of the femoral head can occur in the absence of any obvious æetiological factor, the proportion of patients receiving steroid therapy who develop this lesion, while low, is much higher than that in the adult population in general. This is a report of 6 such cases, occurring in a series of 34 patients with functioning renal grafts. The reasons for the development of the lesion are discussed, with special consideration of the possible role of infection in the ætiolog
