摘要:
Maize,Zea maysL., is an important cereal crop in India. Of the 60orso diseases that affect this crop in India, bacterial stalk rot (also known as chrysanthemi stalk rot) caused byErwinia chrysanthemipv.zeae(Sabet) Victoria, Arboleda and Munoz is one of the four major stalk diseases; incidence as high as 80–85% has been observed in nature. Yield losses up to 98.8% have been experienced under artificial epiphytotics. Studies carried out in India during the past 25 years or so have generated information on germplasm evaluation, virulence of the pathogen, aetiology, epidemiology and chemical control of the disease which is reviewed in this article.

摘要:
Current status of sesamum diseases in India is reviewed. Sesamum phyllody is the most destructive disease in India. Leaf curl is also responsible for heavy losses when it infects at early growth stages of the crop. Bacterial leaf spot,Pseudomonas sesamicauses considerable yield reduction whenever it infects the sesamum crop. Bacterial blight,Xanthomonas sesamiis serious during the monsoon and to young plants. Among the fungal diseases, leaf blight,Alternaria sesamileafspot,Cercosporasp., and leaf blight.Phytophthora parasiticaare important. Charcoal rot,Macromophomina phaseolinais widespread and destructive but difficult to control. Mildew is not a serious disease. A number of organisms have been reported to cause this disease. Reports on the occurrence of several minor diseases have also been listed.

摘要:
Fungi isolated from typically wilted plants of chickpea, included 42%Fusariumspp., 28%RMzoctonia solani17%Macrophomina phaseoliand 4%Verticillium albo‐atrum.Chickpea appeared to be a new host ofV. albo‐atrumin Pakistan. This fungus proved highly pathogenic against local chickpea cv. C‐727, causing 94% wilting of plants in artificially inoculated soil. Comparative pathogenicity of the fungal isolates revealed thatFusariumspp.,R. solaniandM. phaseolicaused 100% seed rot whereasVerticillium albo‐atrumcaused wilt at the seedling stage of chickpea.
