摘要:
Folding of the caudal horn of the medial meniscus after surgical severence of the cranial cruciate ligament was investigated. When the stifle was flexed and the tibia was placed in a cranial position, the caudal horn of the medial meniscus could move forward without damaging the meniscus or the caudal joint capsule. Forward movement of the tibia with the stifle extended could damage the meniscus and/or the joint capsule. Abnormal position of the meniscus did not necessarily indicate meniscal damage.

摘要:
Closed reduction and fixation by transfixation pinning is a successful operation for nonunion of the tibia following failure of intramedullary pin fixation. This technique has several advantages. It allows compression at the site of nonunion. It can be performed in a short time and causes minimal tissue trauma. The joints are not restricted and the patient has unrestricted ambulation.

摘要:
The technique for stabilizing the mandible using the bi‐phase external splint is described. Considerations for the use of external skeletal fixation on the mandible are reviewed. Two severe mandibular fracture cases and 1 case of unilateral mandibular body excision for the treatment of oral neoplasia are presented. Excellent results have been obtained by using the bi‐phase splint in dogs of moderate to large s

摘要:
Management of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in the dog continues to be a difficult problem in veterinary orthopedics. This experimental study evaluated a reconstructive technique for ACL injury. The technique evaluated was an over‐the‐top procedure using the fascia lata, lateral retinacular tissue, and the lateral one‐third of the patellar tendon as a substitute for the ACL. The results of clinical and pathologic evaluation indicate the technique can be used for reconstruction of the stifle joint following ACL i

摘要:
A surgical approach to the lateral trochlear ridge of the distal femur of the horse was developed to facilitate evaluation and curettage of osteochondral defects of the lateral trochlear ridge. Surgical exploration of the lateral trochlear ridge was achieved in 11 patients with osteochondral defects of the lateral trochlear ridge using a craniolateral arthrotomy between the middle and lateral patellar ligaments. The technique described allowed adequate exposure for evaluation, removal of loose osteochondral fragments, and curettage of cartilage abnormalities on the lateral trochlear ridge.

摘要:
Fifty‐four noncesarean cases in which epidural analgesia was used as the primary control of surgical pain in the dog are presented. The technique, indications, mechanisms of action, advantages, and disadvantages are discussed. Our experience with this proven technique has shown epidural analgesia to be an effective, practical, and simple means of operative pain control with wide application beyond the usual indication of cesarean sectio
