Due to the informational constraints, the computation and implementation of the Decentralized Fault Detection and Diagnosis (DFDD) algorithms are very complex. In this paper, we propose a new method for DFDD in large linear stochastic dynamical systems using an unknown input observer estimator scheme. We show that the Kalman filter—Genaralized Likelihood Ratio (GLR) test combination with our decentralized observer—estimator is similar to the approach of Willsky and Jones in centralized situations.

摘要:

A microprocessor based firing scheme for adjustable firing angle of thyristors of line commutated converter is presented. A full range control of the firing angle from zero degree to one hundred eighty degree is achieved through microprocessor software. The scheme uses minimum hardware and is capable of controlling the rectifier, inverter as well as ac controller operating with fixed or variable frequency ac supply.

This paper presents a distributed fault management system called DOFSON for open system networks. The proposed model overcomes the inadequacies of existing methodologies for detecting errors and facilitates on-line fault isolation in an operational network. Moreover this distributed approach to fault management results in reduced network management compared to centralized models.

A general host-NIU pair, and various issues related to partitioning of a protocol software between the host machine and the intelligent Network Interface Unit (NIU) are discussed. A methodology to arrive at Optimal Protocol Partition, in a typical network node executing arbitrary protocol software is given. Analytical model is suggested to estimate the performance of the partitioned protocol stack, in a host-NIU pair. The implementation work carried out at IIT Madras, to understand the partitioning of the OSI protocol layers is described. OSInet, a networking software implementing a carefully chosen subset of ISO-OSI model for LANs, was used for this work. Significant improvement in the throughput of a network node was measured, due to proper partitioning of protocol software between a host machine and an intelligent NIU.

The performance of an injection-locked microwave AM-to-PM converter in presence of a time discontinuous amplitude-modulated signal has been investigated. Effects of the input modulation index, the in-tune and off-tune carriers and the loaded cavity on the system response have been considered. A method of bias-tuning to improve the converter performance has been suggested and critically examined.

Utilising TV signal directly from the satellite INSAT-1 in a common view mode, an experiment has been carried out to compare the clock at the Sikandarabad earth station with respect to the clock at National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi. These data have been analysed and an accuracy of 500 nanoseconds could be achieved. The propagation delay has been calculated with the help of the coordinates of INSAT-1 predicted from satellite orbital parameters. The impact of the error in the prediction of coordinates on the accuracy of time comparison has also been discussed.

The theory of Kalman Tracking from an airborne platform with known orientations (pitch, roll&yaw) is extended to cover the cases of either unknown random orientations or orientations measured with random errors. The degradation in the tracker performance due to these effects is estimated and the augmentation of the noise covariance matrix required to reduce the degradation is derived, and verified with simulations.

The design procedure for a single layer thin sheet microwave absorber which exhibits broad band characteristics is described in this communication. Using the proposed design approach, single layer absorbers of thickness less than 7mm in S-band, 5mm in C-band, 4mm in X-band&3mm in Ku-band to give a minimum 1OdB absorptions over their entire respective bands, have been theoretically designed. Barium Hexa-ferrite as the radar absorbing material and rubber as binderare used in the design. Based on the design detail, a thin sheet absorber for entire Ku-band operation has been fabricated and tested. The practically obtained results for absorptions agree very closely with the theoretically predicted values. This order of absorptions and bandwidth were so far achieved by the use of multilayered absorbers rather than a single layer as in proposed design. These types of absorbing sheets are very useful in military applications for reducing radar cross section.
