摘要:
For a solid elastic-plastic sphere subjected to spherically symmetrical loading, uniform expressions for the displacement and the plastic strains are derived. Consideration of the plastic strain, together with the v. Mises yield criterion, leads to the different border radii separating the elastic, the primary plastic, the unloaded, and the secondary plastic region. Arbitrary nonlinear hardening can be taken into account with moderate numerical effort.

摘要:
Variation of a general integral functional, defined over a three-dimensional domain and its bounding surface, is obtained with respect to domain variations in a thermoelastic solid body by employing the adjoint variable method and the material derivative concept, as in isothermal structural optimization problems. Since no variational principles are utilized, it is asserted that the present procedure may be applied to other physical systems.

摘要:
In this paper we discuss the uniqueness and continuous data dependence questions appropriate to the fundamental initial boundary-value problems in thermoelasticity with one relaxation time. On the basis of the Lagrange identity, we obtain the results for bounded domains as well as for exterior unbounded domains without definiteness conditions on the thermoelastic coefficients other than the positiveness of the product between the thermal conductivity and the relaxation time. The applicability of the Lagrange identity in order to obtain some reciprocal theorems is outlined.

摘要:
A consistent treatment of the combined effects of extensional, flexural, and shearing deformations of thin, circularly curved beams and rings subjected to thermal loads of arbitrary variation, and general distributed and concentrated in-plane loads is presented. The present treatment, which deals with the problem in its general form, has been developed from variational considerations using Hamilton's principle to derive the exact Euler equations of motion and consistent boundary conditions for thin rings and curved beams in terms of the radial and tangential midsurface displacements and the rotation of the normal that, concomitantly, include the effects of extensional and shearing deformations. Discontinuity conditions corresponding to discrete application of generalized forces and consistent conditions on the time axis are also obtained. For static analysis, the coupled Euler equations of motion are transformed into three uncoupled differential equations, sixth-order in radial and tangential displacements, respectively, and fourth-order in rotation. Complete solutions of the governing equations are derived in exact form for general thermal and static load distributions. The particular solutions are then specialized for linear temperature variation through the thickness with uniform temperature over the outer and inner faces of the ring as well as with nonuniform temperature of trigonometric variation over the faces. The effects of the radial and tangential components of the distributed static loads are also incorporated into the particular solutions. The results confirm that the extensional and shearing deformations can play a significant role in the bending of curved beams with restrained edges subjected to nonuniform heating.

摘要:
In this paper the theory of generalized thermoelasticity is used to solve a boundary-value problem of an isotropic elastic half-space with its plane boundary held rigidly fixed and subjected to a sudden temperature increase. Approximate small time solution is obtained by using the Laplace transform method. Numerical values of stress and temperature have been obtained. It has been noticed that the displacement is continuous and that there are two discontinuities in both the stress and temperature functions.

摘要:
The existence of a solution for the problem of limit carrying capacity for perfectly elastic-plastic disks subject to a temperature gradient is discussed. For some disks, with jumplike variable thickness, the continuous solution terminates earlier due to some inadmissible discontinuities of displacements. Corresponding decohesive carrying capacity is determined, as well as geometric parameters of disks for which such phenomena occur.

摘要:
A recently proposed incremental-loading procedure [1] is used to obtain approximate solutions for the moderately large deflections of antisymmetric angle-ply plates under nonuniform temperature fields. A parabolic in-plane variation and a linearly varying transverse distribution of temperature are considered. The analysis predicts the existence of a bifurcation along the thermal load-deflection path for certain laminate configurations and loadings. Results based on the large-deflection theory are compared with exact solutions to the classical small-deformation formulation for various fiber-reinforced laminates.
