摘要:
In this article the buckling of specially orthotropic laminated composite cylindrical shells is investigated. The nonlinear equilibrium equations based on the Sander's assumption of simplified nonlinear strain-displacement relations and the linearized stability equations for a circular cylindrical thin shell are considered. The equations include the rotations and transverse shear force. The resulting equations are improved compared to the Donnell stability equations. The mechanical and thermal buckling loads of a thin composite circular cylindrical shell based on Donnell and improved stability equations are obtained.

摘要:
Integral transform techniques are used to determine the stress intensity factors of a pair of colinear line cracks that disturb a uniform heat flow in an anisotropic thermoelastic solid that is under uniaxial tension. A solution is given for the case in which the tension is large enough to ensure that the cracks open fully.

摘要:
In the first part of this article we derive the equations of the linear theory of thermomicrostretch elastic solids with the help of an entropy production inequality proposed by Green and Laws. The theory permits the propagation of thermal waves at a finite speed. Then we establish a uniqueness theorem. Finally, we present a reciprocity relation and prove that it leads to another uniqueness result.

摘要:
In this article we use the results of Green and Naghdi Proc. Roy. Soc. London A, vol. 432, pp. 171-194, 1991 and vol. 357, pp. 253-270, 1977 and J. Elasticity, vol. 31, pp. 189-209, 1993] to establish a theory of micropolar thermoelasticity that permits propagation of thermal waves at a finite speed. A solution of Galerkin type for homogeneous and isotropic bodies is also established. This solution is used to study the effect of a concentrated heat source. The continuous dependence of the solution with respect to body loads and initial data is finally studied.

摘要:
A finite element formulation in modal coordinates is developed for the nonlinear thermal postbuckling of thin composite plates. The linear buckling mode shapes used to model the postbuckling deflection are investigated. Postbuckling of symmetrically lami nated, antisymmetric angle-ply, and deflection of unsymmetrically laminated composite plates under mechanical and thermal loads are studied. Deflection shape changes are observed in a long rectangular plate. The participation from each mode to the postbuckling deflection is presented quantitatively. The results show that the modal-coordinate method can reduce the number of nonlinear equations dramatically and obtain accurate thermal postbuckling behavior.

摘要:
Mechanically and thermomechanically stressed interface cracks in adhesively bonded bimaterials (PMMA-aluminum) with a large elastic and thermal property mismatch are experimentally studied. The elasto-optic effects are mapped as (sigmax+sigmay) contours in the PMAA halves and interfacial fracture parameters are estimated. Crack initiation under mechanical and thermomechanical loading conditions are shown to be controlled by different micromechanical processes. The results suggest that the micromechanical unlocking of microcavities and microprotrusions along the interface is primarily responsible for failure initiation under thermomechanical loading conditions. This is unlike the mechanical loading situations wherein fracture toughness is derived primarily from the breakage of interlocking microentanglements. The measured values of the fracture parameter DeltaIm(Kaiepsilon)T due to a temperature rise is a constant and much higher than its real counterpart (DeltapsiT (a) approxequal 76-82 degrees). The Delta(Kaiepsilon)T|cr thus obtained are much lower than the mechanical counterparts.
