摘要:
This article provides a comprehensive numerical treatment of a finite crack in an interfacial layer with spatially varying elastic and thermal properties. It is assumed that material properties of the interfacial layer depend only on the coordinate perpendicular to the crack surfaces and vary continuously between those of two dissimilar homogeneous bonding layers. Unlike earlier studies that considered the cracks encountered as open, the current investigation studies cracks in an essentially compressive environment in which the crack faces are in contact and fictional effects play an important role. A finite element model utilizing a recently developed procedure that provides a simple and efficient iterative technique to solve fictional contact problems under small deformations is employed. Numerical examples are provided. Transient and steady-state stress intensity factors (SIFs) are calculated; and the variation in SIF due to change in material properties of the interfacial layer, the length of the crack, and the location of the crack in the interfacial layer is studied.

摘要:
This article is aimed at investigating the plane strain problems in generalized theory of thermoelasticity in a homogeneous, transversely isotropic medium by employing an eigenvalue approach after applying the technique of Laplace and Fourier transforms. An example of a half-space having a step input of temperature has been presented in order to illustrate the application of the approach. The results for coupled thermoelasticity and in the case of homogeneous isotropic medium have also been deduced as particular cases. The results obtained can be used for a broad class of problems in generalized thermoelasticity. The integral transforms have been inverted numerically to obtain the displacement, temperature, and stress fields in the physical domain. The results for these quantities are given and illustrated graphically.

摘要:
This paper is concerned with the linear dynamic theory for binary mixtures of thermoelastic solids. First, a reciprocal relation is established Then, this result is used to derive a counterpart of the reciprocal theorem in the classical elasticity and a uniqueness theorem. Finally, a variational theorem of Gurtin type is presented.

摘要:
Using the asymptotic properties of Riemann-Liouville form, the intrinsic rate-based first and second laws of thermodynamics properties of fractional differintegro operator type constitutive representations are investigated by illustrating how the conservative and nonconservalive features of the response behavior interact under spectrally rich inputs. Due to the generality of the development, fractional operator representations of any order are considered. This includes the determination of the underlying features giving rise to frequency dependencies in the phasing and amplitude behavior and in this context the irreversible energy release rate process associated with fractional viscoelastic simulations.

摘要:
A dynamic analogue of the Phragmèn-Lindelöf principle b established for an unbounded body composed of an inhomogeneous and anisotropic linear thermoelastic material The asymptotic behavior of either a volume measure of the total energy or alternative cross-sectional measure is studied. It is shown that the cross-sectional measure of a thermoelastic process either asymptotically grows faster than an increasing exponential function or asymptotically decays faster than a decreasing exponential function. A uniqueness theorem valid for infinite domains is established, and some explicit bounds for the decay rate are given.

摘要:
In this study, a transient thermal stress problem of a rectangular plate due to a nonuniform heat supply is treated theoretically and, thereafter, fracture behaviors of the plate with a crack are examined for compressive stress states. Assuming that a crack located on an arbitrary position, with an arbitrary direction, is sufficiently small and is closed because of the compressive stress field, a temperature field, in a transient state, is analyzed by taking into account the effect of relative heat transfer on both surfaces of the plate. Thereafter, the corresponding thermal stress analysis is developed on the basis of the two-dimensional plane stress problem using Airy's stress function method, and the stress intensity factor is analyzed for the biaxial stress state. As an analytical model, we consider mechanical boundary conditions of prescribed displacement and estimate the stress intensity factor of a crack tip using parameters of the crack configuration such as the location, direction, length, and coefficient of friction. These numerical results are shown in graphical form.

摘要:
The viscoelastic behaviors of simply supported cross-ply and angle-ply laminates, having various magnitudes of imperfections, and, subject to instantaneous temperature rise, are examined. Each viscoelastic lamina is taken to be a thermorheologically simple material. The analysis is based on the von Kármán assumption and the first-order shear deformation theory. The stress function and the angles of rotation are obtained separately from the compatibility equation and from the moment equilibrium equations using the Laplace transform. Deflection is calculated from the transverse force equilibrium equation using the Galerkin method and a numerical integration scheme. Numerical results for deflection and stress resultant histories for Glass / Epoxy laminates are presented. Solutions based on the classical laminate theory are also presented for comparison.
