摘要:
Plane quasi-static thermoelastic problems are studied for domains of arbitrary shape with a slit. Special attention is paid to the case of point heat sources. Three types of boundary conditions are considered on the sides of the slit: ideal contact, zero temperature, and heat isolation. For each of them the leading terms of the asymptotics of tensile and shear stress-intensity factors ast→0 are obtained. We show, in particular, that a point heal source placed near one of the ends of a finite rectilinear crack, while inducing compressive stresses near this end, can cause dangerous tensile stresses in a neighborhood of the other end.

摘要:
The elastostatic problem of a two dissimilar materials joint with arbitrary edge angles exposed to thermal loading is treated. Emphasis is placed on the investigation of the regular stress term, which is independent of the distance r, in the stress field near the singular point. The Mellin transform is used to calculate analytically the regular stress term. Numerical results of the regular stress term for special wedges (identical angle wedges) are included for all possible Dundurs parameters.

摘要:
This paper presents an analytical model of a deep circular tunnel excavated in an elastoplastic medium and subjected to an axisymmetrical time-dependent temperature field. The subsequent thermal expansion generates different plastic zones as well as positive convergences. It is shown that under certain simplifying assumptions, the boundaries of the elastoplastic zones are given by a system of simple simultaneous algebraic equations. Examples are given to illustrate the practical applications of the model.

摘要:
A potential function method for three-dimensional asymmetric problems of piezoiher-moelasticity of hexagonal materials of crystal class 6 mm in cylindrical coordinates is proposed. The method employs two piezothermoelaslic potential functions, four piezoelastic potential functions, and a piezoelectric potential function. One of the piezother-moelastic potentials and the four piezoelastic potential functions are governed by simple uncoupled differential equations, which are derived from the stress equations of equilibrium and the equation of electrostatics. The remaining piezothermoelastic function and the piezoelectric potential function are expressed in terms of the previously obtained piezothermoelastic function. As an illustrative example, the problem of an infinite, thin piezothermoelastic plate subjected to axisymmetric surface heating is analyzed. Numerical results are obtained for the stresses and the electric potential in a cadmium selenide plate. The thermally induced stress distributions are compared with those obtained when the piezo-effect is ignored.

摘要:
An analysis of laser-induced waves propagating in an absorbing thermoelastic semi-space of the Green-Lindsay type is presented. A volume model of absorption in which a laser-induced heat has the form of a product of an exponentially decreasing function of the semi-space depth and a “skewed” Gaussian temporal profile is assumed. A closed-form solution to the associated one-dimensional initial-boundary value problem is obtained. A qualitative analysis of the solution shows that for a fixed cross-section of the semi-space the stress-temperature response of the body is represented by a pair of smooth transiental functions of time.

摘要:
The boundary element method (BEM) does not require the domain integral in steady thermoelastic problems without heat generation; but in problems with heat generation, the domain integral is necessary in previous formulation. This paper shows that the problems of steady thermoelasticity under nonuniform heat generation over the region can easily be solved without the region integral by means of the boundary element method in the authors' formulation. However, for the case of general complicated heat generation the domain must be divided into small areas, where distributions of heat generation satisfy the Laplace equations.

摘要:
A hypersonic leading edge structure subjected to intense localized transient heating is modeled using the finite element method and a three-dimensional assembly of CST-DKT plate elements in the shape of a half cylinder and incorporates the large deflection uon Kármán assumptions. The thermoviscoplastic material behavior is characterized by the Bodner-Partom constitutive model. This article compares the results of a dynamic structural analysis with a quasi-static structural analysis using a representative transient temperature field similar to that which may be encountered with shock-shock interference on a hypersonic leading edge structure.

摘要:
The two-dimensional problem of a thick plate whose lower and upper surfaces are traction free and subjected to a given axisymmetric temperature distribution is considered within the context of the theory of generalized thermoelasticity with one relaxation time. Potential functions together with Laplace and Hankel transform techniques are used to derive the solution in the transformed domain. The Hankel transforms are inverted analytically. The inversion of the Laplace transforms are carried out using the inversion formula of the transform together with Fourier expansion techniques. Numerical methods are used to accelerate the convergence of the resulting series and to evaluate the improper integrals involved to obtain the temperature and stress distributions in the physical domain. Analysis of wave propagation in the medium is presented. Numerical results are represented graphically and discussed. A comparison is made with the solution of the corresponding coupled problem.

摘要:
The transient thermal stress edge crack problem for an elastic strip with free and fully constrained boundaries is considered. The plate is suddenly subjected to convective cooling on the face containing the edge crack while the other face is insulated. The solution of the problem is obtained by using the superposition technique results in a singular integral equation that is solved numerically. The results of the transient temperature and thermal stress distributions in the uncracked strip are presented. Also, numerical results are obtained for the stress-intensity factor in terms of the Fourier number, crack length, and different values of the Biot number.
