摘要:
In this article, we deal with the application of generalized thermoelasticity, based on the theories of Lord and Shulman and of Green and Lindsay, to solve a one-dimensional problem related to magnetothermoelastic waves produced by a thermal shock in an infinite elastic solid with a cylindrical cavity. Laplace transform technique is employed to solve the set of basic equations. Analytical results are presented in the case of generalized thermoelasticity. Approximate small-time solutions are obtained in each case. Numerical results for displacement, temperature, and stresses are presented in the form of tables.

摘要:
The conductive heat transfer between two different materials in contact can cause the system to be unstable due to the interaction between thermoelastic distortion and pressure-dependent interface resistance. This article investigates the stability of a system consisting of a layer and a half-plane using a perturbation method.

A theory for binary mixtures of thermoelastic solids is presented in which the independent constitutive variables are the displacement gradients, relative displacement, temperature, and temperature gradient. The theory is linearized, and a uniqueness result is established.

摘要:
This article is concerned with the dynamic theory of thermoelastic materials with voids. First, a representation theorem of Galerkin type is established. Then, the case of steady vibrations is considered. The representation theorem is used to study the effects of a concentrated heat source and a concentrated extrinsic equilibrated body force in a body occupying the entire space.

摘要:
Exact analytical solutions of refined plate theories are developed to study the thermal stresses and deflections of cross-ply rectangular plates. The state-space approach in conjunction with the Levy method is used to solve exactly the governing equations of the theories under various boundary conditions. Numerical results of the higher-order theory of Reddy for thermal stresses and deflections are compared with those obtained using the classical and first-order plate theories.

摘要:
A linear theory of coupled heat and moisture is adopted to analyze the transient responses in an infinitely long annular cylinder subjected to hygrothermal loadings. A closed-form solution of temperature, moisture, and stresses, obtained by utilizing the decoupling technique and method of separation of variables, is presented, and the coupling effect between heat and moisture on the temperature, moisture, displacements, and stresses is discussed. We found that the coupling effect is significant for composite material T300/5208. The maximum discrepancy between coupled and uncoupled solutions might be as high as 50%.

摘要:
The distribution of displacement, temperature, and stress in a homogeneous, isotropic, thermally conducting, infinitely extended, stretched elastic plate resulting from a flat-nosed, cylindrical projectile have been investigated in the context of the Lord-Shulman theory of thermoelasticity. The Laplace transform technique is used to obtain the solutions. Because the second-sound effects are of short duration, the discussion is confined to small time approximations. The displacement is found to be continuous, but temperature and stress are found to be discontinuous. The long time solutions are also discussed. The jumps have been computed numerically and are represented graphically for carbon-steel material.

摘要:
The generalized theory of thermoelasticity with one thermal-mechanical coupling coefficient and three thermal relaxation time coefficients is used to solve a boundary value problem of a simply supported orthotopic cylindrical shell subjected to sudden temperature changes and mechanical loadings by the application of a perturbation method. Various techniques of expanding the perturbation coefficients are discussed, and difficulties are identified. The problem of singularities in long time solutions is shown, and a solution procedure is demonstrated. The approximate solution uses Galerkin's method and the Laplace transform. Numerical values of frequencies and displacements are displayed graphically and in tabular form. These results quantitatively show that, for ultrastrength materials with relatively high Young's modulus and thermal expansion coefficients, the coupling effect between strain and temperature fields is not negligible and can be demonstrated with a perturbation method solution.

摘要:
A method is proposed for determining the critical temperature changes that cause inelastic thermal bifurcation buckling of metal matrix composite plates. The inelastic behavior of the metallic matrix is described by an elastic-viscoplastic temperature-dependent constitutive law; the fibers are allowed to be either elastic or elastic-viscoplastic material. The approach is based on the applied thermal load and the history-dependent instantaneous effective thermomechanical properties of metal matrix composites, which are established by a micromechanical analysis. The method is illustrated by the prediction of the inelastic thermal buckling of SiC/Ti metal matrix angle-ply laminated plates by employing the classical and first-order shear deformable laminated plate theories.

摘要:
By using a Bernoulli-Euler type beam theory, a simple solution is obtained for the general problem of the thermoelastic pure bending of nonhomogeneous prismatic bars. Within this framework, the elastic modulus and temperature distributions can vary arbitrarily over the bar cross-section, and the elastic modulus and thermal expansion coefficients can be temperature dependent. The analysis is valid for time-dependent temperature variations and can therefore be used for analyzing warping and residual stresses induced by transient temperature fields. An analysis of a bi-material channel-sectioned beam is used to show that the addition of ribs significantly reduces the thermoelastically induced warping in bimaterial strips caused by temperature excursions. It is shown that thermoelastic warping in a three-layer tri-material strip cannot be reduced by using a middle layer with an elastic modulus much lower than the modulus of the surrounding layers.
