摘要:
In this article a coupled thermoelastic theory including inertia effects is used to determine the through-thickness temperature and stress distribution in a laminated medium subjected to thermal shock loading. The solution is obtained using an implicit-explicit finite difference procedure, and numerical results are presented for composites made of layers of a carbon substrate and a coating.

摘要:
The transient behavior of an interface crack at the center and edge of two finite dissimilar materials free to bend and subjected to a transient thermal load was studied. It was first assumed that the crack was insulated. The effect of allowing heat to conduct through the crack upon closing was also investigated. The effects of the mechanical and thermal material property ratios as well as the thickness ratio on the crack deformations and the transient strain energy release rate were calculated.

摘要:
A numerical study is made of the one-dimensional transient, uncoupled dynamic thermal stresses in plane, cylindrical, and spherical bodies subjected to a step change in temperature on its internal boundary. The numerical procedure employs the characteristic relations on boundaries and on interfaces between media with different material properties while using an explicit finite-difference scheme at all other points. Fundamental problems with and without external boundaries are solved, and the results show clearly the propagation and reflection of discontinuities in stresses and velocity due to a step heating on the internal boundary. The solutions of the specific examples calculated show excellent agreement with existing solutions by other methods. Numerical results are also given for the stress wave propagation in laminated media consisting of two layers with different material properties.

摘要:
A grade consistent micropolar theory of thermoeluslicily is considered. First some results concerning reciprocity, variational characterization of the solution, existence, and uniqueness are established. Then, the theory of homogeneous and isotropic solids is studied. A solution of Cauchy-Kovalevski-Somigliana type and the fundamental solutions in the case of steady vibrations are established. We also study the asymptotic behavior for the homogeneous problem.

摘要:
Contact stresses and residual bearing strength of pin-loaded composite laminates at different temperatures are investigated. An incremental finite element code, based on the updated Lagrangian approach, was developed for determining the contact stresses near a pin-loaded hole in composite laminates under combined thermal and mechanical loadings. Based on the progressive damage model, the quadratic strength theory combined with a proposed failure simulation are adopted for failure predictions. In the stress and strength analyses, mechanical properties of the laminates are assumed to be temperature dependent. Numerical results include the distributions of initial (thermal) as well as total contact stress around the pin-loaded hole, residual bearing strength, and failure mode for a single-fastener clearance-fit joint with an elastic pin. The bearing strain model test has been performed at elevated temperature for the verification of present calculations.
