The etiologic factor contributing to the rupture was thought ot be a virus infection, with this same infection resulting in maternal death. The subject was brought up to date by reviewing the literature since 1958.

摘要:
Fibrinolytic activity in human uterine tubes is caused by a plasminogen activator. No protease activity was observed. The concentration of plasminogen activator in the mucosal layer compared well with previously recorded assays of fibrinolytic human organs. The concentration in the muscular layer was exceedingly high, averaging from 1200 to 1700 U./gm. of fresh tissue. This is the highest average concentration in any human tissues so far recorded. Individual specimens reached even 5000 U./gm. The concentration in the serosal layer was high (700–1000 U.), in some cases approaching the concentration in the muscularis. There were no significant differences between the distal, medial, and proximal sections of the tubes.

What is believed to be the first case of a large mesenteric or retroperitoneal cyst complicating pregnancy is presented. The cyst was successfully excised approximately 6 weeks subsequent to an uneventful vaginal delivery.

摘要:
Two cases of ascites complicating toxemia of pregnancy, in one case eclamptogenic toxemia, are reported. Both patients had low total serum protein concentration with alterations of the size of the albumin fraction. In one case there was a complete reversal of the A/G ratio. It is believed that this is the prime cause of the ascites.
