This paper describes statistical methods for planar random tessellations. At first the estimation of mean values such as the mean number of cells per unit area is considered. Then some variability characteristics are defined and determined for the DIRICHLET tessellation relative bo a POISSON point process. Statistical methods for their estimation are suggested and demonstrated for five examples

In this note smooth surface processes and their sections with planes are considered. A formula is given which enables the determination of the second moment M2of the mean curvature in a “typical” surface point by using the second moment k2of curvature in a “typical” fibre point in the section plane and the mean Gaussian curvature G. It is a generalisation of a formula given by SALTYKOV Methods for the statistical estimation of k2are suggested

Weakly stationary fields of random quasiellipsoids (rigid or flat ellipsoids) in Rnare intersected with a fixed hyperplane H. The stereological problem consists in determining the size and shape distribution of a “typoical” quasiellipsoid of the sample by selectional data. The size is assumed to be independent of shape and directins. In general the problem cannot be solved uniquely (s.[1]). In the present paper the question is answered for which shape–direction distributions the stereological formulas for all size distributions are the same as in the well–known spherical case

This article considers the r–content of the simplex convex hull of r + 1 independent beta distributed random points in a unit n–ball. By comparing this problem with a similar one in multivariate statistical analysis, the exact density is obtained, for the general case, in computable series form.

摘要:
In the paper a sequence of bounded regions containing n independent identically and uniformly on Dndistributed points is considered. It is assumed that the d–dimensional volume v(Dn) is asymptotically proportional to n. Under these conditions it is shown that the number of pairs of points within a distance r>0 of each other is asymptotically normally distributed. For proving this among other things a lemma of BOLTHAUSEN is used, whereas even strong estimates for U–statistics are insufficient. The obtained result is applied for testing the hypothesis of randomness
