For the classes of all quadratic estimators and all quadratic estimators with their expected value independent of a fixed effect vector parameter, we propose the Bayes quadratic estimators. When one estimates unknown prior distribution from relevant data the resulting estimators are called empirical Bayes quadratic estimators (EBQE). To illustrate the development, a Monte Carlo study is carried out to compare EBQE and MVUE for three models of common practical interest. It turns out that EBQE have some advantages over MVUE, To illustrate the proposed technique we apply the new method to two real data sets

The notion of symmetrized distribution is applied to clarify statistical inference for bivariate distributions when the observability of two random variables is restricted to unordered pairs. Properties of statistics based on unordered pairs are considered. Connections between independence in the ordered and unordered cases are described and used to analyze certain properties of the independence test in both cases

This paper is concerned with establishing Poisson approximations to departure processes in general queueing networks. Bounds are provided to assess the degree of deviation of a given flow from Poisson and these lead to simple criteria for good Poisson approximations. The class of networks considered here are those with a countable collection of customer classes and where the service requirement of a customer at a given queue has a general distribution which may depend upon the class of the customer. Initially we consider networks of quasireversible queues and later relax this assumption
