摘要:
Break-even analysis under a cable prices Implies that either a certain percentage of capacity Is utilized throughout the period (Model I) or chat capacity is fully utilized for only part of the period under analysis (Model II). Under inflation, however, where prices of inputs and outputs do not necessarily change at the same races, these two cases yield different results for break-even volumes. The break-even points under inflationary conditions are found to give smaller volume for Model II than for Model I; both volumes are larger than under stable prices.

摘要:
Historically, the study of economic equipment replacement is primarily limited to that of a single machine or a single machining system. The replacement situation whereby machines under consideration are part of a large integrated system has received little attention. This paper proposes a framework, for the analysis of multiple-machine replacement within an integrated system context. The major difficulty of analyzing such a problem lies in the interactive nature of an integrated system; that is, how should the effects to the entire system be assessed as a result of alterations to one or more of its components. The emphasis of this work is on the issues regarding multiple machine replacement. A single-period model is utilized in order to simplify the presentation. A comprehensive example is also provided for illustration.

摘要:
This paper expands some of the useful properties of the Mellin transform in risk analysis. The Mellin transform is particularly useful in evaluating the present value of a cash flow profile that contains produces or quotients of independent random variables. Just as we can obtain moments directly from the Fourier, Laplace, and geometric transforms, so can we obtain statistical moments from the Mellin transform without taking the inversion process or derivatives. The Mellin transform is also useful in computing any order of moments for a cash flow distribution based on discrete-payment and discrete compounding. A few examples are shown in this paper to demonstrate the operational properties of the Mellin transform.

摘要:
This paper analyzes the effects of the loss carryback, and carryforward on the investment and financing decision of the firm. The optimal strategies to eliminate, most if not all, potential Corporate tax liabilities are demonstrated. It is also shown that the carryforward and carryback, provisions provide more incentive for existing firms than for new firms to invest. At the macro level, these tax provisions encourage greater risk taking by the more profitable firms.
