摘要:
Replacement analysis has generally been treated as a tactical decision. However, the economic life of an asset is dependent on its utilization, which is an operational decision. Traditional replacement models assume fixed levels of asset utilization to. determine minimum cost replacement schedules, preventing analysis of different utilization/replacement scenarios that may lead to lower overall cost solutions. This problem arises when a multitude of assets may be utilized to achieve a required service level. A model is presented that simultaneously determines tactical (replacement) and operational (utilization) decisions in a general and flexible manner.

摘要:
This paper presents a new analytic method of capital budgeting that takes into account both customer “wants” and competitor's status (or relative position and strength. The model, which is loosely based on quality function deployment (QFD), incorporates market segments, customer “wants,” design specifications, various manufacturing processes, and capital budgeting projects as rows and columns of interconnected QFD matrices. In addition, we have used the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to determine the intensity of the relationship between the variables involved in each matrix of the model. Ultimately, the goal of these matrices is to prioritize projects and ensure that the projects funded are focused on satisfying customer “wants.” Project priorities calculated from the interconnected matrices are used as the objective function in a 0–1 integer program to determine funding allocation levels for various capital budgeting projects. A practical example shows the applicability of the model to manufacturing organizations.

摘要:
This paper proposes a new heuristic algorithm for solving the project selection problem. A revised decision criterion in conjunction with the techniques of searching the feasible range and the reduced candidate set is applied to improve the heuristic solution and to minimize the computational efforts. Six hard cases are tested using the presented algorithm and two other methods. Results show that the approach used in this study excels previous works in producing a small feasible range and in dealing with the abnormal data set.

摘要:
If the first two moments (mean and variance) of the net present value (NPV) are known, various probabilistic information of possible NPV can be derived. However, in general, it is practically impossible to estimate the variance of lengthy investment projects due to difficulties in estimating all the intertemporal correlation coefficients between cash flows of two different periods. In this paper, we derive an estimation model for the intertemporal coefficients based on cash flow components and show how the model, under a certain assumption, can be used for estimating and deriving probabilistic information.
