摘要:
Constructional and erosional morphologies of beach ridges and intertidal flats of a chenier plain in the Firth of Thames are illustrated and discussed. These are used to determine a sequence of past sea levels.

摘要:
Twenty–two species distributed in sixteen genera of Triassic ammonoids are now known from New Zealand, which indicate mid–Scythian, Anisian, Carnian, and Rhaetian Zones. Only the Middle and Upper Triassic forms are described. The Anisian faunas include species ofPtychites, Discoptychites, Tropigastrites, Leiophyllites, Mono–phyllites, andParapopanoceras. The questionableHollandsesidentified by Wilckens was the only Ladinian record but this specimen is now known to have come from beds of Jurassic age (Callovian) and to belong toMacrocep halites (Kamptokephalites). Carnian strata contain species ofRhacophyllites, Cladiscites, Arcestes, Pinacoceras, andEpigymnites– theRhaetian, andRhacophyllites. The strong affinities of these faunal .elements with similar faunas from Tethys and the north Circum-Pacific region indicate complete and free communication of Triassic seas around New Zealand to these adjoining geosynclinal belts.

摘要:
Four species,Grammatodon otagoensis, Nucula mariana, Pleuromya marianaandHollandites parki, described by Wilckens (1927) as originating from the Kaihikuan (Ladinian) beds of Mt St Mary, are shown to be incorrectly localised, and are compared with respectivelyGrammatodon (Indogrammatodon)sp.,Nucula (Palaeonucula) cuneiformisSowerby,Pleuromya millejormisMarwick andMacrocephalites (Kamp–tokephalites) sp., from the Tema;kan (Middle Jurassic) of South–East Otago, from where they are considered to have been originally collected by J. Park. The identification ofHollandites parkiWilckens withMacrovephalites (Kamptokephalites) sp. removes age and geographic distribution anomalies.

摘要:
Spiiites. altered dolerites and camptonites occurring in unfossiliferous, ?Upper Jurassic greywacke at Cape Palliser, are described. The spiiites are “high potash” types and show well developed pillow structure. The altered dolerites are found as sills and dykes in a greywacke–argillite–chert sequence, intraformational volcanic breccias and random fold–axis directions indicating that submarine slumping has taken place. The camptonites contain brown hornblende, titan–augite, albite and andesine. The thicker camptonite dykes show mineralogical changes between centres and borders – the trend being towards greater albitisation and crystallisation of hornblende at the margins. Horizontal banding by albite and the mineralogical border changes are considered to be due to infilling of cooling cracks by late phase solutions. The camptonites at Cape Palliser are considered to be distinct from the Brocken Range intrusives, but co–magmatic with those of the Inland Kaikouras and Awatere Valley, Marlborough of Upper Jurassic – Turonian age. The spiiites, dolerites and camptonites at Cape Palliser show mineralogical and chemical affinities and are considered to have been derived from an olivine–basalt magma.
