摘要:
In this paper the harpacticoidRaptolaophonte arduan.gen., n.sp., collected at Boddam Island (Chagos Islands) is described. The new genus is characterized by many features; in particular, the absence of sexual dimorphism in P2-P3 and the strong sexual dimorphism in P4 is noteworthy. Considering the related genera of Laophontidae as yet known, the new genusRaptolaophonteseems to have some affinities withLaophontinaNorman & Scott 1905 andIndolaophonteCottarelli et al. 1985. The new species is described and discussed in detail and further information on the samples sites are given.

摘要:
Season fluctuation in zooplankton abundance are described from six 24-hr series taken from the Likoni Ferry, using Clarke Bumpus net of 180 μm mesh size. Two samples every 2 hr were taken at 2 months intervals from April 1985, to February 1986 inclusive.

摘要:
One hundred and eighty-three eels of Hispaniola were examined for the number of vertebrae and all of them were found to belong to the speciesAnguilla rostrata(Le Sueur 1817), as was expected. The haemoglobins of 52 individuals were examined with electrophoresis, and a polymorphism was observed. According to the explanation of SICK et al. (1967), 7.7% of the eels of Hispaniola bear the heterozygous pattern already observed in American eels, while the others bear the most common phenotype, which is identical to the only haemoglobin phenotype of the European species.

摘要:
Sandy sediments and algae from the litoral and sublitoral zone of the coast near Mombasa were sampled. Eighteen species of Kalyptorhynchia were collected, of which four new species of Schizorhynchia are described here, twoCheliplanaspecies, oneBaltoplanasp. and oneCarcharodorhynchussp.Cheliplana asica terminalisBrunet 1968 described from the Mediterranean and also recorded from Somalia was found as well. Five out of 13 species of Eukalyptorhynchia were already recorded from Somalia.Polycystis aliSchockaert 1982,P. suhcontortaSchockaert 1982 andCincturorhynchus karlingiSchockaert 1982 were newly described from the Somalian coast.P. contortaSchockaert & Karling 1975 also known from Norway and the Mediterranean andGyratrix hermaphroditusEhrenberg 1831 is an ubiquist. Six new species of Eukalyptorhynchia collected from algae will be described in a later publication. Additional information is given onAlcha evelinaeMarcus 1949 andToia yciaMarcus 1952.

摘要:
Based on a restudy of the type, the millipedPolydesmus hamatusBrandt 1841, appears to belong to the Malagasy genusDalodesmusCook 1896, with closest affinities withD. hova(de Saussure & Zehntner 1897) which was also restudied from type material. Two junior primary homonyms,Polydesmus hamatusVerhoeff 1897 (Carpathians) andPolydesmus hamatusLoska 1960 (southern China) are renamed and/or reallocated asPolydesmus burzenlandicusVerhoeff 1925, subspeciesceucainom. nov., and?Epanerchodus sinensiscomb. nov. & nom. nov., respectively.

摘要:
Lizards normally considered to be diurnal inhabitants of forest-floor leaf-litter were found, during field work in Serrado Navio, Amapá State in a rather special habitat, the margin of a large, marshy, open area at the side of a creek, completely surrounded by rainforest, with a thick layer of leaf-litter on a very wet and muddy substrate. In this location they were extremely numerous and active during nights with a nearly full moon. Some speculations about the causes for this behaviour are made.

摘要:
Thirteen new species of the Monocelididae and three Archimonocelididae from South Sulawesi and North Australia are described. More than 2/3 of the species belong to the subfamily Minoninae; among them, seven pertain to the genusDuplominona, which in tropical areas seems to be the dominant genus among the Proseriata, colonizing a wide range of habitats.

摘要:
Food relocation in dung beetles consists in the removal of dung fragments from a source and their burial before use. Such behaviour is generally understood as an adaptive response to the degradation of food at the ground surface and to competition among coprophagous insects. We investigated the feeding behaviour of the Eucraniina in a xeric environment.
