The Canby Utility Board, Canby, Oregon, has developed a methodology of assessing customer opinion of the water provided by the utility. While utility personnel conduct chlorine checks at a customer's residence, the customer is asked to rate the water on a questionnaire. Survey results and benefits are described, and a sample questionnaire is illustrated.

Water main breaks have the potential of introducing disease‐causing bacteria into the distribution system. This article discusses ways of preventing main breaks, and presents methods of repairing and disinfecting mains should a break occur. Procedures for applying a chlorine solution are outlined, and steps to follow before placing the main into service are listed.
