摘要:
This article is part one of a two‐part article on handling water treatment plant sludge. Characteristics of sludge are addressed. Dewatering methods including thickening, spray application, freeze conditioning, chemical conditioning, coagulant recovery, centrifugation, and filtration are discussed. Part two of the article appears in the September 1985 issue of OpFlow.

摘要:
Questions in this month's Certification Corner deal with the selection of pipe sizes so the velocity of the water from the basin to the filters will not exceed a requirement of 2 fps; cross connections; aeration; chlorine leaks; the use of M‐endo agar; groundwater; reservoir water levels; chlorine dosage; manganese; dry‐barrel fire hydrants; the most probable number (MPN) test for total coliform bacteria; and filter rates.

摘要:
This article describes a double meter set invented by the author that can be mounted in the homes of customers who doubt the accuracy of their meters. The original meter is left in place, allowing the customer to compare the residence's daily use as recorded by a brand new meter to that recorded by the original meter.
