摘要:
This article discusses the basic components of fire sprinkler systems and the potential for cross connections that exists with these systems. Fire protection systems, which are pressurized piping systems, should be isolated from potable water systems using the proper backflow prevention assembly for the degree of determined hazard. Classification of fire sprinkler systems is described, and backflow protection required for low‐, moderate‐, and high‐hazard systems is addressed.

摘要:
This article discusses the need for air release valves in pipelines. Sources of air entry are addressed, and the following types of air release valves are described: small orifice air release valves, large orifice air release valves, double or combination air release valves, and vacuum valves. Suggestions for maintenance of air release valves are provided.
