摘要:
Exercising of valves helps to keep them clean and operable, extends valve life, and allows the worker to pin‐point any problems, facilitating repair or replacement of malfunctioning valves. One of the main obstacles to an exercising program is the slow and costly process of operating valves manually, but the use of power equipment will cut valve operating man‐hours by 65%. Valves should be exercised at least once a year. Steps for a routine program are given.

摘要:
Bearing lubrication is an important step in pump maintenance procedures. Under average operating conditions, it is recommended that an ounce of grease be added at intervals of three to six months and that only clean grease be used. Mineral greases with a soda soap base are recommended. A regular maintenance timetable should be instituted with monthly inspection of the bearing temperature, and checking for saponification every three months.
