This article focuses on the initial monitoring requirements for lead using tap samples, and on many of the practical difficulties in complying with them. Special attention is paid to the issue of residents or customers sampling their own water for use by the utility.

摘要:
Biological regrowth (BRG) is another name for an increase in live microorganisms in drinking water after disinfection has been completed. The microorganisms, which include coliform bacteria, other bacteria, fungi, or yeasts, may become suspended in the water or attach to the walls of the distribution system, forming what is known as “biofilm.” Biofilm can trigger positive test results for things such as E. coli. The article discusses: the importance of BRG prevention; total coliform rule; surface water treatment rule; BRG research; and solving BRG problems.
