摘要:
Unraveling the mysteries of pipe failures allows the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission to make cost‐effective, sound engineering decisions on ways to prevent breaks. Further, by tracking break patterns and trends, the Commission will be better able to identify mains that are likely to fail, and to rehabilitate or replace them before they actually break. The article analyzes a study being conducted by the Commission on main failures which emphasizes analyzing samples of broken mains and soils from trenches of failures.

摘要:
The first step in complying with SDWA regulations is for small water systems to get information on the responsibilities and the deadlines for meeting them. Steps discussed are having the water tested for both regulated and unregulated contaminants, and planning on how to pay whether by setting new rates or fees to accommodate the changes or getting grants or loans.
