摘要:
On June 29, 1989, the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) published the new rules and regulations governing surface water treatment. Turbidity performance standards for filtered water were included in these regulations. For a system using conventional treatment or direct filtration, USEPA will require that the turbidity reading of a plant's filtered water be less than or equal to 0.5 NTU in at least 95 percent of the samples taken each month. The article discusses metal salts as coagulants, flocculation for better filtration, polymers as coagulants, selecting the right coagulant, and testing coagulant effectiveness.

摘要:
To reduce downtime caused by having to round up safety materials for emergency jobs, the Helix Water District designed and assembled a self‐contained trailer that holds all the safety items necessary for traffic control and night work. It can be towed by all the district's construction and maintenance trucks. The article discusses contents and construction of the trailer.
