摘要:
An interactive multimedia computer-assisted instruction on congenital heart disease was developed to increase nursing students' understanding of congenital heart disease. Computer-assisted instruction, with Its ability to incorporate sound, visuals, and interactivity, provides a multimedia and interactive learning environment that enhances the teaching and learning process. Computer-assisted instruction is a cost- and time-effective teaching and learning strategy that can be tailored to the subject and student population. This article presents information regarding the process of developing an interactive multimedia computer-assisted instruction program on congenital heart disease.

This study analyzed nursing staff attitudes at three different time periods during and after implementation of a clinical information system (CIS). Nursing staff completed a 12-item questionnaire about their perceptions of a computer CIS after receiving training on the system, but before going “online.” Participants then completed surveys after 1 month of use and again after 6 months of use of the system. There was a positive relationship between participants' perceptions of the CIS and the self-rating of their adaptability level (P<0.013), their rating of the technical level of their unit (P<0.012), and the number of years of experience in their job (P<0.048). There was no relationship between nurses' perceptions of the CIS and their age or between nurses' perceptions and their personal computer experience. Although attitudes became less positive at each time interval, the attitude differences from preimplementation to 1 month later were not statistically significant, whereas the difference from 1 month to 6 months was statistically significant.

摘要:
Evolving computer technology has opened the door to unique and previously unavailable educational experiences. The use of one form of distance learning enabled undergraduate nursing students In the United States and England to participate in a short course on women's health issues. The nursing faculty at two universities, one in the United States and the other in England, collaborated on an international nursing education project. The delivery device was interactive desktop video conferencing (DTV). The focus of this article Is on the evaluation of the project with recommendations about how best to use DTV in international nursing education.
