摘要:
This project was designed as a hands-on orientation to the use of computers in health care facilities. Rather than transporting students to a distant facility, the facility was brought to the learners by means of a computer program. Utilizing Apple microcomputers and a newly opened microcomputer laboratory, the learners were placed in the role of new employees being oriented to the totally computerized “Computerville Regional Hospital.”

摘要:
Two faculty members of the nursing department at California State University, Long Beach, implemented a long-term project that was designed to help students overcome their apprehensions about using computers. The project consisted of five phases: 1) Students were given a packet of reading materials designed to give them a general orientation to computers. 2) Students attended a workshop where they were introduced to computer technology and characteristics of computerized instruction. 3) In groups, students selected a topic in epidemiology, researched it, and developed a computer dialogue to teach their topic. 4) The computer dialogues written by students were programmed by faculty. 5) Students demonstrated their programs to other members of the class. The programs were then placed in the Nursing Learning Center for access by all students within the department.
