摘要:
Based on a review of the nursing and education literature, this article describes the multiple factor influence the Implementation of computer assisted instruction (CAI). Research regarding the effectiveness of CAI is reviewed, and the driving and restraining forces for this innovation are described. The need for nursing educators to validate which of these factors are most influential in their decision to implement CAI in nursing is identified. 摘要:
Quality nursing CAI requires not only content accuracy, but also lesson screens that are deliberately designed to be instructionally sound, aesthetically pleasing, and comfortable for students to use. This article provides specific guidelines and strategies for designing functional screen layouts, effective and attractive text, and appropriate graphic displays. 摘要:
This report is based on a survey of two groups of nurses (total n=156) concerning the use of computers. Topics included nurses' willingness to interact with computers, and expectations of computer influence on their personal lives, patient/client care, the nursing profession, the health care system, and health care costs. Subjects designated as pacesetters (Group A) and middle-majority (Group B) completed questionnaires designed to ascertain their willingness to interact with computers and answered semistructured questions related to their expectations. Results indicated that Group A was significantly more willing to interact with computers than B (p≤.010). Group A had a greater percentage of favorable expectations, whereas Group B's “no answer” and unfavorable responses exceeded their favorable responses in all dimensions. Suggestions for continued education of nurses are provided. [Computers, Nurses, Nursing]

摘要:
Computer managed instruction is an instructional strategy whereby the student masters learning objectives through a process of prescribed learning resources and self-testing. Computer managed instruction (CMI) purports to provide for individualized learning, self-pacing, and flexibility in delivery of theory, as well as less demands on faculty time. The objective of this pilot study of the main investigation was to compare student learning under CMI and the traditional lecture method. The design of the study was quasi-experimental, incorporating two experimental treatments applied to two groups on two occasions. Data analysis revealed the following: 1) CMI is as effective as the traditional lecture method in bringing about learning as measured by examination scores; 2) CMI was not rated as a positive instructional method by the students; 3) No measurable differences in learner characteristics were observed between the groups; 4) Differences between groups in the students'retention of knowledge and the time spent in meeting the learning objectives require further study. With increasing numbers of students, advances in application of computer technology, and economic restraints, computer managed instruction (CMI) was seen as an effective instructional method for teaching selected nursing content.
