摘要:
The styrene content of copolymers with aliphatic acrylates and methacrylates is determined by near-infrared absorption measurements in chloroform at 2.144μ. The plot of absorbance vs. concentration is linear over the range 0 to 82.1 g./1.

摘要:
A half wave potential-pH diagram for the parabenzoquinone system has been obtained by the use of potentiometry, voltammetry and polarography in buffered N,N-dimethylformamide media. Acid-base and redox reactions are considered and the study is completed by the use of spectrophotometry.

摘要:
Optimum conditions for the determination of silicon by flame emission spectrometry were ascertained. The maximum signal emanates from a region immediately above the tip of the inner cone of a fuel-rich oxygen-acetylene flame. The organosilicon compound is aspirated as a solution in ethanol and the emission intensity at 2516.1 Å is measured. Quantitative determinations were made using a working curve and by the method of standard addition. Detection limit is 3.5 μg/ml.

摘要:
The complex formed between molybdenum(VI) and benzoylacetanilide in the pH range 0.6 and 1.9 has been extracted into methyl isobutyl ketone and the absorbance has been measured at 410 mμ. Quantities of 0.15 to 2.10 mg of molybdenum have been determined with a standard deviation of 0.6%. The color is stable up to 2 hours. The presence of Co2+, Ni2+, Zn2+, Mn2+, Be2+, Al3+, Cr3+, Ce4+, Th4+or UO2+2up to 100 μg causes no interference. Ordinarily, Fe3+interferes with the determination, but when masked with 1 ml of 0.5% solution of ascorbic acid the tolerance limit is 10 mg. Thus, molybdenum can be determined in steel when present in amounts as low as 0.26%.

摘要:
A fast photokinetic method for the determination of Fe(III) is reported, which employs photoreduction of Fe(III),in situcomplexation of the Fe(II) produced, and continuous recording of the absorbance of the colored complex. Complete photoconversion is not necessary; the total photolysis time is approximately one minute. Linear calibration plots were obtained using the initial slope method over the range 2 to 10 micromoles of Fe(III) with relative standard deviation of 1.5%.
