A new method is described for the gravimetric determination of gold as tetraphenylarsonium aurichloride, (C6H5)4As. AuCl4. Accuracies ranged from 0.4% to 0.6% for sample sizes between 0.2 and 4 mg.

摘要:
A method for the analysis of blood and urine creatinine, on the Beckman DSA-560 analyzer, is described. It is based upon the measurement of the rate of formation of Jaffe's coloured compound, between 60 and 210 s after the addition of picric acid to samples diluted with an alkaline buffer. The method requires no deproteinization; the reagents are stable and analyses can be made at a rate of 120 samples/h using 100 μl of plasma.

摘要:
The design and fabrication of a miniature Fast Analyzer that utilizes a small, multicuvet, plastic rotor and a unique optical system to measure the light transmittance of each cuvet is described. The system was developed to accept small, discrete volumes of reagent and sample, which are then transferred and mixed in less than 10 seconds. A serum albumin analysis was performed to indicate the feasibility of miniaturization.

摘要:
Coulometric determination of chloride which is photolytically generated from trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is used for actinometry. Silver (I) is coulometrically generated from a silver anode and the change in chloride ion concentration is monitored potentiometrically. Photolysis - coulometry coupling yields a linear relationship between time of photolysis of solutions of TCA and the microequivalents of electrons required for titration back to the initial solution potential. If the recommended procedure is followed, errors about ten times those found for titration of standard chloride solutions are obtained.

The utility of parallel analysis techniques (as employed by the ORNL GeMSAEC Photometric Analyzer) for the determination of sulfur dioxide has been evaluated. The results of the study emphasize the advantage of parallel analysis for systems involving unstable reagents and/or absorbing moieties.

摘要:
A new liquid chromatographic detector depends upon the fluorescence measurement of cerium (III) produced from the reaction of cerium (IV) with eluted reducible compounds. It is more sensitive than previous oxidative detectors by more than a factor of 100. The reaction can be varied to discriminate among compounds according to ease of oxidation.

摘要:
The visual detection between crossed polarizers, of organic vapors on various liquid crystal films is reported. Non-selective detection is achieved in the ppm range. However, opportunities exist for bettering selectivity and sensitivity as illustrated with a combined polymer-liquid crystal detection system for amines. Also described is the detection of liquid droplets by utilizing changes in the birefringence of polycarbonate membrane filters.
