摘要:
Trace amounts of vanadium catalyze the oxidation of phenylhydrazine-p-sulfonic acid by sodium chlorate. The diazonium salt produced is coupled with 1-naphthylamine to form an azodyestuff whose absorbance is read at 530 nm. Interferences ate eliminated by separating the vanadium by solvent extraction. Physiological concentrations of vanadium are determined in 10 ml. of ashed human blood or plasma and 25 ml. of ashed human urine. Recovery studies are reported along with results for the analysis of blood and urine samples.

摘要:
The colorimetric assay for hydroxamic acids (HA) based on diazotation and coupling with α-naphthylamine, has been adapted for automatic determinations using a Technicon AutoAnalyzer. A manifold for discontinuous and continuous assays is described. The sensitivity of the method is very high : aqueous solutions containing HA in amounts as low as 0.5 μg/ml can be easily quantitated. The time for the analysis of one sample varies between 2 to 5 min depending from the accuracy required. The application of the continuous method to drug release problems involving HA is discussed.

摘要:
Phase-selective fundamental and second-harmonic tensammetry show that the desorption of uncharged surfactants is strongly influenced by the supporting electrolyte in the region of the desorption peaks. Quantitative data, however, can be extracted only if assumptions are made about adsorption isotherms, and in particular about the potential-dependence of the surface coverage around the desorption peaks. A satisfactory model and theoretical treatment has to be developed. In the meantime, such studies can provide useful empirical data.

The polarographic reduction of gem-halogeno-nitro derivatives has been studied in an aprotic organic medium. The electrochemical reduction of derivatives of the type (CH3)2CXNO2(where X=Br, Cl, H) leads to the 2, 3-dimethyl 2, 3 dinitrobutane with a good yield.

Assay procedures are described for phenols and arylamines involving oxidative coupling, employing peroxide-peroxidase, to form the highly colored indaniline and indamine dyes, respectively. The phenols and arylamines are assayable in the 10−6to 10−5molar range. Appropriate conditions for maximum dye formation are described.

A method is presented for the rapid solvent extraction of gallium (III) with o, o, s-triethyldithiophosphate. Quantitative extraction results from 4–9 M hydrochloric acid, using 100% extractant. The extract-able species is H[GaCl4]·2(C2H5O2)2P(S)SC2H5.

摘要:
A method for gas chromatographic trace determination is described in which the sample solution is injected into a packed precolumn which is connected to an EC-detector. When solvent and low boiling compounds have been eluted, the precolumn is connected to the cold entry of a capillary column with another EC-detector and the trace compound is collected as a narrow band at the entry of this column. The precolumn is then reconnected to its own detector, the capillary column is heated and the trace compound is eluted and measured. Meanwhile high boiling compounds are swept out of the precolumn. When the base line of the precolumn is stable the next sample is injected and the capillary column is cooled again, and so on. In order to avoid background plateaus and ghost peaks the carrier gas must be purified, which is easily achieved with cooling traps with dry-ice and acetone.
