摘要:
A new method is developed for the extractive separation of mercury from associated elements. Mercury is quantitatively extracted from 0.5 M acetic acid solution by aliquat 336 S, which acts as a liquid anion exchanger. The metal ion from the organic phase is stripped with sodium hydroxide solution and determined in the aqueous phase complexometrically. The extracted species is [2(R4N+), Hg(OAc)4−2]. A working procedure for the selective separation of mercury from zinc, cadmium, nickel, cobalt, copper, bismuth and manganese is described.

摘要:
Rotating lead dioxide electrode on titanium support is used as an amperometric working electrode in complexometric titration. Application of special pulse techniques gives information about processes during oxidation of free EDTA. Electrode surface can be renewed by pulse treatment. Differential pulse amperometry of EDTA was found to be a highly sensitive indication method.

摘要:
Error expressions derived from the commonly used equations of electroanalytical chemistry using Taylor's series show how a calculated value of n, the number of electrons transferred, depends on the error in D, the diffusion coefficient. The error relationships for chronoamperometry, polarography, chronopotentiometry, and voltammetry at stationary and rotated-disk electrodes are given. It is found that when the relative error in D is less than 10% a simple linear relationship between the error in D and n is a satisfactory approximation.

摘要:
A rapid and sensitive determination of antimony(III) and antimony(V) has been carried out by non-dispersive atomic fluorescence spectrometry using a sodium borohydride reduction. The total antimony amount is determined by pre-reduction of antimony (V) to antimony(III) with potassium iodide, followed by stibine evolution. The stibine evolution from antimony(V) is inhibited by the addition of hydrofluoric acid solution and the selective determination of antimony(III) is made. The antimony(V) amount is determined by calculating the difference between the two values.

摘要:
A membrane separated chemiluminescence (CL) flow cell was constructed and used for the measurement of chlorine dioxide. The membrane separated the luminol-peroxide reagent from the chlorine dioxide and provided a barrier to possible interferences. CL intensity was measured as a function of analyte and reagent flow rate. Sub part per million measurement of dissolved chlorine dioxide was easily obtained.

The concentrations of chlorine and chlorine dioxide in a gas stream may be determined by passing a known quantity of gas into an acidic potassium iodide solution with subsequent analysis of that solution for iodine by thiosulfate titration and chloride by ion chromatography.

摘要:
Boron specific element detection for capillary column gas chromatography is achieved by atmospheric pressure microwave induced and sustained helium plasma spectroscopic emission. A small flow of hydrogen is added to the helium to enhance general plasma characteristics for boron emission. Fused silica capillary column applications are discussed for boronate derivatives of diols and in carborane silicone polymer pyrolysis.
