摘要:
A simple and sensitive micro method for chloral hydrate determination based on oxidation with iodine in chloroform solution is described. The produced iodide ion in the extract is determined using the iodide ion-selective electrode by either a direct measurement, standard addition technique or potentiometric titration with standard silver nitrate solution. Samples containing 0.1 - 4.0 mg chloral hydrate are analyzed with an average recovery of 99-9% and standard deviation of 0.1%.

摘要:
An instrument which performs oxidative and reductive single- pulse coulostatic analysis has been designed and constructed. An IBM Personal Computer with a DT2801 Single Board Analog and Digital I/O System coupled to an external potentiostat/coulostat circuit performs data acquisition, processing, and storage. Details of the hardware and software are presented along with results for the analysis of ferrocene in a methanol/ tetrabutyl ammonium tetrafluoroborate medium.

摘要:
An electrode consisting of platinized reticulated vitreous carbon (Pt/RVC) which behaves as a conventional platinized platinum electrode is described. The Pt/RVC electrode has been used to study the products of CO2reduction by Hadat potentials below 0.0V vs. NHE in acidic solution. Formic acid is proposed as the main product of this reaction.

摘要:
The use of a laser ablation-direct current argon plasma emission spectrometric system for the direct determination of metals in solids is described. Sample preparation of solid steel samples involves machining to fit the geometry of the ablation chamber. A cellulose binder and copper ore are mixed thoroughly in a ball mill to ensure homogeneity and pelletized in a press at 20000 psi to fit the geometry of the ablation chamber. Copper, manganese, and nickel are determined using the system on standard steel samples, and copper is determined in pelletized copper ore with good agreement obtained with certified values. Precisions are typically in the 3 - 10% range with a detectable limit of 100 μg g−1of copper.

摘要:
A method is described for the spectrophotometric determination of vanadium by measuring its colored complex with salicylic acid in formic acid medium. Lambert-Beer's law is followed in the range of 2.0 - 32.0 μg V/ml of the final solution. Thirty-six ions were tested and did not interfore, at the established conditions.

摘要:
The chromatographic behaviour of 32 metal ions has been studied on paper Impregnated with Zirconium(IV) antimonate in aqueous HCI and mixed solvent system containing dimethyisul phoxide and dioxane. Several Important binary and ternary separations have been achieved. Quantitative separation of Hg(ll) from Ni2+, Pb2+, Pd2+, Ru3+, Rh3+, Bi3+, Co2+, Cd2+and Gd3+is described.

摘要:
The GC/MS spectra of the methyl adduct of PBN as the aminoxyl and as the corresponding hydroxylamine are reported. Similar results are obtained with higher alkyl analogues. With excess alkyl Grignard the O-alkyl hydroxylamine ether (PBN double adduct) is obtained if the solution is exposed to O2in the presence of the alkyl spin adduct of PBN. A mechanism involving radical trapping by the alkyl spin adduct is proposed.

摘要:
The behaviour of plastics, namely, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyamide and some copolymers, was studied in a combustion chamber in which the conditions of large-scale fires were simulated. Volatile combustion products were frozen-out or analyzed directly on two columns, one packed with Porapak Q and the other capillary column coated with squalane or CP Sil 5 CB. Carbonyl compounds were determined as the 2,4-dinitro-phenyl hydrazones on an OV-101 stationary phase. Thermal conductivity and flame ionization detectors were used. The decomposition products were identified either on the basis of retention data (retention indices) or by combined capillary GC-MS. The data obtained are used for the cataloguing of plastics from the point of view of their product toxicity during fires.

摘要:
A mixture of inert gases, He, Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe can be separated into their respective components by applying the technique of diffusion chromatography, in which a special apparatus is not required. Only neccessary is the properly distributed micropores in the column. It can be operated above room temperature. The resultant chromatogram shows sufficient peak resolution except between He and Ne.

Ion exchange potential of Zr (IV) molybdate and silica gel ‘G’ has been explored in paper chromatography and thin layer chromatographic studies for the separation of anions from one another. Several Important and difficult separations of anions have been achieved as a result of these studies. IO−3- BrO3−, Br−- NO2−, IO4−- I−, NO2−- NO3−, NO3−- BO3−, NO3−- BrO3−, PO4—- F−and PO4—- IO3−are separations of practical Interest.
