Using radioisotope tracer technics and GC-mass spectrometry, a new metabolite of 5,5−diphenylhydantoin present in rat urine has been dentified as 5-(3,k-dihydroxyphenyI)-5-phenylhydantoin. This catechol represented about 2% of the total metabolites excreted in rat urine folowing administration of diphenylhydantoin in the diet for over two weeks

摘要:
This report describes a radioimmunoassoy method for measurement of unconjugated dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in plasma. Utilizing a highly specific DHEA antiserum combined with a one step celite microcolumn chromatographic system, we have measured this steroid accurately in small aliquots of plasma from both male and female subjects. The mean value for both male and nonpregnant females was 2.7 ng/ml. The values for third trimester pregnant females ranged from 0.5 ng/ml to 12.5 ng/ml. When plasma DHEA was measured over a complete menstrual cycle, the levels were higher during the early and latter parts of that cycle than at midcycle. One male subiect, studied over a 24 hour period for diurnal variation, demonstrated highest DHEA levels during the early morning.

摘要:
The methyl, ethyl,n-propyl,n-butyl ort-butyl esters of long chain fatty acids can be prepared quantitatively by reaction with dimethylforma-mide dialkylacetals (alkyl group = methyl, ethyl,n-propyl,n-butyl ort-butyl, respectively). A gas chromatographic separation can be carried out as soon as solution is achieved.

A general purpose gas chromatograph using a piezoelectric crystal as detector has been constructed and a piezoelectric crystal detector sensitive and selective for sulfur dioxide has been designed and developed. From 1 to 100 ppm of SO2can be quickly and easily determined.

It has been established that it is possible to separate 8-quinolinol from its complex with various metals by a thin-layer chromatographic technique. This results in increased sensitivity by permitting the use of a more intensive absorbance maximum in the ultraviolet region of the spectrum.

A fluorescent product is formed when an aqueous solution of vanadium is reduced by zinc amalgam and reacted with an aqueous solution of potassium acid phthalate in the presence of oxygen. One of the compounds in the isolated product appears to be 3-hydroxy-o-phthalic acid.
