摘要:
A radioimmunaassay method for the measurement of progesterone (P) in plasma after selective solvent extraction with hexane is described. Utilizing specific antisera against P with minimal or no cross reaction with other steroids, P was measured accurately in a volume of 0.5 ml of plasma. The range of P levels that could be measured per mi of plasma in the assay system described varied from 0.04 to 40 ng/ml. Comparison of the P levels obtained by this rapid assay and by o proven chromatographic system suggests adequate specificity of this quick method.

摘要:
A chronopotentiometric study of the reduction Cm(III) + 3e → Cm(0) is reported. The diffusion coefficient increases from 3.6×10−6cm2sec−1to 17.2×10−6cm2sec−1in the temperature range 400−550°C. Diffusion data of various +1, +2, +3 and +4 ions are compared with regard to the charge density of the ions.

In fluorosulfuric acid, the electrochemical oxidation of alkanes takes place more easily in more basic solutions. The reactive species at the electrode are not the protonated paraffins. A chemical oxidation followed by a charge transfer seems possible.

摘要:
The distribution of zinc between the toluene phase containing trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO) and the nonaqueous ethylene glycol phase containing either hydrogen or lithium chloride has been investigated by using zinc-65. In the zinc-hydrogen or lithium-chloride-TOPO system, the complex ZnCl2-2TOPO may predominantly occur in the toluene phase, and only mononuclear zinc complexes appear to exist in the two phases.

摘要:
A rapid method for the simultaneous solvent extraction and spectrophotometric determination of hexavalent uranium with N-p-tolylbenzohydroxamic acid is described. The intense red complex with uranium can be extracted by chloroform at ph ∼4. 3. The red colored complex obeys Beer's law at 515 nm. A satisfactory separation from many commonly occurring metal ions is easily accomplished. Effects of acidity, reagent concentration and diverse ions on the visible absorption spectrum of the extracted complex have also been investigated.

摘要:
A procedure for determination of mineral mercury in soft water and sea water is described for the concentrations in the range 5–500 ng. 1−1. This method involves formation of the mercury-pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate complex which is extracted by propylene carbonate. The extracted mercury is reduced in this solvent by stannous chloride and quickly entrained by nitrogen. The amount of mercury is determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry at 253. 7 nm.

A simple quantitative test for cyanide is described. Cyanide is released as the hydrocyanic acid and conducted through a prepared disk to form a prussian blue spot. This spot is visually or instrumentally compared to standard spots. Two μg of cyanide can be detected by this method.
