摘要:
In low-absorbance assays, the necessity for eliminating ultraviolet and visible absorbing impurities in buffering agents and detergents is discussed. The method proposed here involves electrochemical reduction of the interfering material. An example of the elimination of an artifact in an enzyme assay is presented.

摘要:
Zirconium is determined as zirconyl ion in the presence of an equal amount of uranyl ions by the rolid zirconium tunsvoarsenate exchanger membrane electrode. Selectivity coefficient values, determined for other ions, show that monovalent (sodium, potassium, rubidium, caesium and silver) and bivalent (zinc, cadmium and mercury) ions would not cause any appreciable interference if present in amounes smaller than zirconyl. Zirconium in pure solution can be determined down to 5 × 10−4mel 1−1.

A laser-excited fluorescence method is described for the determination of trace amounts of uranium in rocks and soils. The limit of detection is less than 1 ppm, and the relative standard deviation ranges from 2.6 to 12.5%. The method was evaluated by using known geological reference samples.

摘要:
The determination of phenols is important in many areas, such as the characterization of hazardous waste products and the analysis of coal gasification by-products and the analysis of coal gasification by-product waters. Ultraviolet spectrometric phenolate anion measurement is a simple and reliable technique for the selective determination of phenol concentrations in water. For most common phenols, the difference in absorptivity at 291 nm caused by raising the pH from 7 to 12 and converting unionized phenols to phenolate anions provides an accurate measure of phenol concentrations despite variable sample compositions. This technique may be applied directly to aqueous samples or to other samples after extraction of phenols with a solvent.

Multiple linear regression analysis for the retention data of neutral metal complexes of nickel, copper and palladium was carried out. Several columns (Microbondapack C18, Partisil-10-ODS, Alltech RP-8) and two ternary (water-methanol-acetonitrile-and water-methanol-tetrahydrofuran) and a quaternary (water-methanol-acetonitrile-tetrahydrofuran) solvent were studied.

摘要:
A rapid method to qualitatively determine mixture of NaF and monofluoro acetic acid (1080) in liquid baits is presented. It employs a strong anion ion exchange resin in the acetate form with elution with sodium sulfate. The detection is by a flucride-alizarin complexing chelate. The procedures take about twenty minutes and can detect ppm amounts of both materials.

摘要:
A method is described for the determination of microcrystalline wax in butadiene-styrene copolymer pellets at levels ranging from 0.10 to 0.55 wt. %. Polymer pellets are contacted with hot isooctane. The mixture is cooled and the solvent decanted. Following further cooling, the turbidity of the extracted solution is measured. The amouit of microcrystalline wax is calculated using a calibration curve derived from prepared standards. The limit of detection is 0.1% microcrystalline wax, due to sample background turbidity.
