摘要:
Differential enthalpic analysis of the thermal degradation of aromatic and heteroaromatic amino acids provides thermograms which are characteristic of specific amino acids (e.g. phenylalanine, tyrosine, tryptophan or histidine). Curve resolution of the resulting thermograms suggests that a minimum of three reactions are involved in the degradation (within the temperature limits of 500–620 [ddot]K) and provides TMvalues for each of these concurrent reactions.

摘要:
A non-destructive method for the neutron activation analysis of chondritic meteorites by multiparameter coincidence spectrometry is described. Results for sodium, cobalt, nickel and iridium are presented, and agree with single coincidence spectrometry measurements. Scandium photopeaks are prominent in the multiparameter spectrum and this element could also be determined. The advantages of multiparameter spectrometry over single coincidence counting are outlined.

When yeast β-fructofuranosidase is chromatographed on DEAE-callulose with a linear gradient, subfractions of the emergent peak can be individually rechromatographed on new columns as essentially separate entities. This behavior is related to the polydispersity in polysaccharide to protein ratio which is encountered in this glycoprotein enzyme.

A spectropolarimetric method of analysis was developed for calcium(II), strontium(II), barium(II) and yttrium(III) utilizing the stereospecific ligand, D-(-)-1,2-propylenediaminetetraacetic acid (D(-)PDTA). The optical rotation of the solution was monitored with a photoelectric polarimeter to determine the end point of the titration. The metal complexes and titrant are optically active and serve as self-indicators. Since D(-)PDTA is stereospecific in its reaction with these metals, maximum utilization of the optical rotation of these complexes is achieved. The observed optical rotation is linear with respect to concentration of the metal complexes; consequently, it is possible to perform straight line extrapolations to the end point. The effects of some parameters were investigated and optimum conditions were established. The range of the average deviations from visual chelometry for the four metals determined was 0.00 to 0.50%.
