The reaction between Cu(I) and four non pyridinic derivatives of rhodanine (5-(phenyl)methylene-rhodanine (BARH), 5-(0-hydroxy-phenyl) methylenerhodanine (SARH), 5-(p-methoxy-phenyl) methylene-rhodanine (AARH) and 5-indolyl-(3)-methylene-rhodanine (IARH)) have been considered. the influence of the different experimental parameters on the formation of the complexes was studied, and the optimum conditions for the determination of copper were established. The indol-(3)-al derivative was selected among these because of the greater sensitivity of the metal reaction. The precision of the procedure, expressed in terms of relative standard deviation was 1.1 %. The methods have been applied to the determination of copper in several constrasted samples. Finally, these derivatives of rhodanine were compared with others classical reagents used in the photometric determination of copper.

Colour reaction has been studied for the identification and the spectrophotometric determination of uranyl ion with Erichromcyanine R. The detection limit was 7 μg. Beers law is obeyed in the concentration range containing 13 μg to 125 μg/10 ml of uranium.

The application of adsorptive stripping analysis in combination with differential pulse voltammetry for the determination of some triazine- and nitro group- containing pesticides like Dinobutone, DNOK, Ametryne and Prometryne is described. A high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method was established for kinetic studies of the interconversion (mutarotation) between pyranose sugar anomers in solution. At very low temperature, HPLC chromatograms of each sugar indicated the concentrations of each anomer in the state prior to the HPLC analysis. Thus, when one of the pyranose anomers obtained by recrystallization was dissolved into water and was analyzed by HPLC repeatedly, gradual changes in the chromatogrphic patterns were observed. The equilibrium concentrations of each sugar anomer in different solvents were found to vary, which was also investigated by HPLC.

Peroxyoxalate chemiluminescence generated by the reaction of an oxalate and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a fluorophor was evaluated as a detection system for microbore liquid chromatography. The results of studies on instrumental parameters show that the signal is increased with short reaction lines, increasing flow cell volume, and enhanced response through detectors with improved optics.
