摘要:
An atomic fluorescence spectroscopic method is described for the assay of silicon in low alloy steels. The method reported is more sensitive than the corresponding atomic absorption method, the detection limit being 0.7 ppm at 351.6 nm compared to 4 ppm for atomic absorption at the same wavelength.

摘要:
It is demonstrated that an amperometric titration of aluminum is possible using iron(III) as amperometric indicator and thorium as the titrant. The method is based on the fact that aluminum interferes in fluoride titrations. At a fixed fluoride concentration there is an inverse linear relationship between the amount of thorium used and the aluminum concentration.

摘要:
Gas chromatography of α-keto acids has been performed with high sensitivity by converting the acids to the trimethylsilyl derivatives of the quinoxalones derived from them and using a rubidium sulfate flame detector. Quantitative determinations have been made with the use of alkyl cyanides as internal standards.

摘要:
The technique of precipitation from homogeneous solution by photochemical action has been successfully applied to the determination of La, Ba, and In. Precipitation is accomplished through the photoreduction of IO4−to produce the insoluble iodates. In the case of Zr and Ti, the more soluble periodate is coprecipitated with the iodate and the method is not successful. Cu and Ni cannot be estimated by this method.

摘要:
An ultraviolet spectrophotometric method for the determination of selenium has been developed using ammonium 1-pyrrolidinecarbo-dithioate. The selenium(IV)-1-pyrrolidinecarbodithioate complex is extracted with chloroform and the absorbance of the extract measured at 303 mμ. Conformity to Beer's law was found for 0.5 to 9 ppm of selenium.

A rapid and sensitive fluorescence test for distinguishing flavonols from flavones is reported. Under test conditions flavonoid compounds with free or glycosidated hydroxyl groups at the C3position fluoresce; others do not.
