摘要:
A new general procedure for carbon dioxide determinations in gaseous and liquid samples has been developed. This procedure is based on the use of a commercial carbon dioxide sensing probe, incorporated into a thermostated glass cell protecting the probe from the environment and conveying gaseous grab subsamples (0.5-1 cm3, by means of a humidified carrier gas stream, against the membrane of the probe in a very reproducible manner. A peak-shaped curve (e.m.f. developed by the probe vs. time) is obtained. The peak height is the analytical information. Response and recovery times, sampling and calibration procedures, precision and accuracy have been investigated using synthetic gaseous and liquid samples. In case of liquid samples, gaseous subsamples are obtained from the head space above the sample. Outstanding features of the method are: the use of the carbon dioxide probe extended to gaseous samples; the improved performance in case of liquid samples; the long lasting validity of calibration curves.

摘要:
A mathematical, kinetic model is presented for the electro-deposition of heavy metal ions present in solutions in ppm and ppb concentrations. The model is based on the two main assumptins: of metal monolayer formation, and of simultaneous metal deposition and dissolution.

摘要:
An indirect kinetic determination of silver based on its inhibitory effect on the oxidation of 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone with hydrogen peroxide catalyzed by iron (III) is described. The reaction is followed spectrofluorimetrically by measurement of the initial rate at the wavelengths of the oxidation product (λexc=365nm, λem=440nm.). The calibration curves are linear between 50-400 ng.ml−1of silver with a precision of ± 2.3%. The proposed method has few interferences.

摘要:
The IO−3anion gives a redox reaction, in hydrochloric acid medium, with 1,2,4-trihydroxyanthraquinone-3-carboxylic acid (Pseudopurpurin), which shows adequate analytical fluorescent characteristics. The oxidation product produces a fluorescent emission at 625 nm (wavelength of excitation =515 nm). After studying many variables, as a conclusion, we propose a new spectrofluorimetric method for the determination of IO−3between 0.2 and 2.0 ppm with a 0.90 % relative error. The interference levels, stoichiometry and nature of reaction are studies.

摘要:
A new catalytic reaction for manganese (II) determination, namely manganese-catalysed oxidation of sulfanilic acid by potassium periodate, has been proposed as a result of theoretical considerations. The kinetics of the reaction has been studied and a probable mechanism has been derived.

摘要:
In the chemical reaction of phenylglycidyl ether with glutathione, NMR analysis showed that the major product of nucleophilic attack of the thiol group of glutathione was at the least substituted carbon of the epoxide yielding the normal product. An analytical reversed phase HPLC system indicated that this reaction was regioselective with a ratio of 92-8 for the normal vs the abnormal product (attack at the more substituted epoxide carbon). This HPLC method shows promise for following the glutathione transferase and hydratase detoxification of the phenylglycidyl ethers. The S-9 rat liver homogenate detoxification of the phenylglycidyl etherper sewas regiospecific yielding only the normal main reaction product of the chemical reaction and a minor amount of phenoxy-propanediol.
