摘要:
Cyclic voltammetry and polarography were used to investigate the complexes formed between hemin and 4-picoline in aqueous ethanol solutions. The number of ligands and the effect of pH on the polarographic wave were determined and used to elucidate the mechanism of the electrode reactions. Cyclic voltammetry confirmed the proposed mechanisms. Equilibrium constants were determined where possible.

摘要:
We employ a new carbonate ion selective membrane electrode in a continuous flow procedure for the direct determination of the CO2content in human serum samples. The method yields excellent precision and accuracy with a standard deviation of a single measurement (on a day-to-day basis) of 1.2 meq/liter. Comparison of our analyses on hospital samples with independent analyses using classical methods gave good agreement and indicates that the proposed electrode method will be useful for routine clinical analyses with considerable reduction in sample handling and cost.

摘要:
The oxidative dimerization reaction of o-amino phenol with dissolved oxygen is catalyzed by the presence of an extremely small amount of copper(II) ion. In a. c. polarography, the oxidation product of o-amino phenol gives a very sensitive tensammetric wave in the pH range 5 to 9. This tensammetric wave is used for the determination of copper(II) ion from 0.3 to 3.5 μg/100 ml final solution.

摘要:
Liquid-membrane electrodes using as liquid ion-exchangers the solutions: bis -(O, O' -diisobutyldithio- phosphato)nickel(II), bis -(O, O' -diisobutyldihtiophosphato) -cadmium(II), and bis-(O, O'-diisobutyldithiophosphato)lead(II) in C6H5C1 are described. Such electrodes respond very Selectively Ni2+, Cd2+and Pb2+ions over the range of 10−1- 10−4M in the presence of alkali and alkali-earth ions. The Pb[S(S)p(OC4H9-iso)]2electrode is highly selective in the solutions containing H+and a number of heavy metal ions.

摘要:
A change in the vibrating frequency of a quartz crystal can be an accurate measurement of the mass change on the surface of the crystal. When coated with an absorbing compound, the subsequent frequency change indicates the sorption of a chemical species by the coating. An approach is proposed for evaluating potential crystal coatings and is. applied to the evaluation of Triethanolamine as a possible sulfur dioxide sorption detector coating.

摘要:
A colorimetric method of determining pyrophosphate in the presence of trace amounts of orthophosphate is described. It involves conversion of pyrophosphate to orthophosphate in a heated acid molybdate solution and subsequent addition of ascorbic acid to the orthophosphate formed for development of a blue color. The method is accurate and precise, and gives quantitative recovery of pyrophosphate added to soil extracts.

摘要:
A simple, rapid and versatile method for the separation and determination of sugars via high performance liquid chromatography is described. Virtually any combination of monosaccharides, disaccharides and/or higher oligomers can be separated. Detection via differential refractometry simplifies quantitative measurements and permits collection of emerging sugars for identifying tests. As little as 20 μg of an individual sugar can be determined and preliminary data indicate excellent precision and accuracy. Aqueous solutions of sugars, including samples containing substantial salts or other impurities, can be analyzed directly without derivatization or pretreatment.
